Super Moon Coming
January 11, 2019 12:39PM
On the 20th we will have a "Blood Moon". 2 years ago we had a Super Moon in November then following in January we had another. I killed the rings for 3 days in Nov. not to mention everything else you find on the beach. The one in January the conditions were to severe to get out with rain and cold. The tides were extreme and looking forward to finding some exposed rocks. Anyone else planning to hunt next weekend on the beach?

Ill be hunting ..... thou how deep ill have to see with the winds AND waves out of the South here. Lot will depend on low tide time and duration of those waves. What helped us a few weeks back was a day of 10' waves against higher banked beaces..... it did nothing for the flat ones except move small stuff and surface targets. We just need some N. winds to push the sand naturally S.

A day of hard NE winds then a change to westerly during the tide to help outgoing. Tides here will be low during the best days in mid morning to late afternoon so if weather is just not raining and the right beach finds could be good for this time of year and not have to get in water. Will do some "run and gun" on first of I hope 5 days to get a idea where it might happen.

Don't forget that it's not just the annual highest tides of the year, that are needed. They also have to coincide with swells/surf, in order to erode. And ... not sure about the east coast, but : Here on the west coast, those extreme tides coming up on next Sat. through Tues. do not seem to be coinciding with any surf/swells sad smiley

A bit of bump for our surf on Thurs. PM to Fri. AM of this week. But that's not coinciding with those lunar tides arriving a few days later sad smiley

Dont know about the rest of you....... but we expect 8' plus waves on Monday. Those winds this year keeping things churning here....... and mostly pushing sand toward the beach. Might get some flip up targets from the high waves on high bank beaches..... otherwise its going to be a waiting game for a few days.

Noticed on Tide charts for my area that we will have some great peaks and better low tides at night. Low 60's through Sunday then a sever front Sunday will drop to high of 36 so Monday could have the best winds but it will be chilly. Still will try starting Thursday to scope out the beaches.

Does anyone here on the east coast of Florida know about any of this? From what I see in the tide charts we have 3-4' high tides and about average Low tides
