Last year, my buddy finally replaced his stolen metal detector with a used Whites VX3. We planned a little trip out to some old places in Nevada with a few friends. My buddy had done some quick air checks at home to make sure it was running right but hadn't put the coil over the soil till we arrived onsite. First coin he finds, an 1857 Flying Eagle Cent.

It was nice to hold one with the dirt still on it. No doubt about what it was.

Guess I keep looking.

Now that is an outstanding find plus it is in great condition. You sounded like me when I dug my first seated about 20 years ago with my Shadow X5. No one around but I sure was talking up a storm.
