I think this turned out to be a small camp area . I dont think it was the homesite.

Looks like you had fun! Why not use a 11 x 13 coil in such a wide open area?

Dont have one . Also when I am on the hunt for a home site I am always expecting a thick iron situation.

Nice find! Looks like the one I found while hunting a Nevada ghost town with Monte last year. The soil was a little nicer to mine.

Honestly it is a lot of work , researching that is. Its fun but it takes dedication , time , and money going around trying to find the sites.

Tom -- Yours is an indian wars button too. I think they made them sturdier. I've dug them around here in similar condition...vs the Civil War varieties that are often faceless, green, or falling apart.
