One thing I wouldn't do is drill a hole in the piece, especially the lock....but that's me.....alligator clamps work. Thanks for the video and your time.

I have never been able to get good contact without doing that. I used a tiny bit but I understand where your coming from.

I have several iron relics I'd like to restore. I've seen all kinds of crazy ways to do it, from boiling the iron in oil IIRC, to zapping it, burning it, even chemicals.
