Any thoughts on this detector?

I didn't see anything on the link about FTP.

I've never cared for that website much. It's mostly opinions, hearsay and wacky articles.

Testing of the new FTP flagship begins in about 3 months according to an email I got from Tim Mallory.

First Texas Rep should post here. Cut to the chase. Keep future possible customers in the loop. Like ME!!
Not looking for details. Just work in progress message. Target release date would be nice.
Give folks some thing to chew on.
Good marketing.
Don’t stretch the truth though.

Carl and Mike do post on this forum.
We simply haven't heard from them...…. in quite an extended length of time.
Either the Manta project has been scrapped...……………. or...………………… (when Carl goes silent) good things are about to happen. I speculate the latter.

I'm sure Manufacturers are scrambling for new ideas with all the competition. Would be smart for companies not to announce anything openly, unless it's a sure thing production item.

Good job. I think particularly with wireless you’re correct. I’m not a big fan of wireless coils, unless they would be made with screw on attachments from both ends as an underwater option, but being able to connect to a pinpointer should be on all their to do lists. So too should connecting to a smartphone app. The possibilities there are endless, including imaging.

I’m still relatively young for a detectorist, so I still prefer a machine like the V3i, even despite its extra weight. To me it’s worth the advantage of the information and versatility. I also have an Equinox 800 for water and harsher terrains. I’m hoping now that Carl Moreland is at FTP we will get a cross between a V3i and Equinox. We shall see. Testing of the new FTP flagship begins in about 3 months according to an email I got from Tim Mallory..."

Arkansas - you said a mouthful.

The item on md-hunter site is a comment by Jeremy Jackson - he says Tom Mallory sent him an email about a new flagship detector being tested in 3 months. I posted there asking Jeremy to forward me a copy of the email. Wonder if he will?

Here we go again. Another heaping plate full of FT flagship baloney. Now the Manta, I guess we will see something at some point, it looks promising in the videos. I hope they get it out and its a killer.
But the flagship deal, Hohum, I'm not betting on that one.

I guess its no secret that a company who makes metal detectors and employs a staff of lots of engineers has at least some of those folks working on new products.

Refresh my memory but who was it here that have a friendly bet going regarding the Manta release date? Seems like somebody said it would be out by such and such date and then someone else called them out on it and a bet ensued. Has that date came and gone yet?

Perhaps its like that Auto Show where they reveal new concept vehicles that never go into production.....basically, this proves our engineers are at least working. Not dissing our USA companies, but Nokta has brought out new quality machines in record fast time and they also listen to the consumer......thumbs up to Nokta / Makro. Where is the Country of Turkey anyway???

DTN - Yes, Beyonder PA and I have a bet - Manta in customer hands by 1/1/2020 or not - stakes - one silver quarter and one silver dime.

Right now - hard to say where the odds are!

LOL, that's like a lot of people in the USA and I am from Buffalo, NY originally. Where is Canada anyway? You would be surprised how many young adults have no clue where in the world it is. They only know where their cellphone is.

Where is Turkey?

Thanks Sven. I have had people here in the States ask me where Arkansas was.....LOL There is a lot of dirt and water between USA/Canada and Turkey. Proves that there are other places in the world that can bring new Tech to light. Our little cubical of a world is getting stagnant with recycled ideas...nothing really new. I think Vista detectors is in Bulgaria or Turkey....not sure. Okay Sven, I say, mass produce the Mirage Pulse

If I were a betting man, and the email was factual, I'd bet that their talking about the Manta that will be in final testing in three months.

CaZaDor??
What's that, now its, its a secret code name FT project isn't it....? FT sued Tesoro over it and closed them down. Didn't you not ever notice the similarity of the Fisher CZ to the Tesoro CorteZ. FT forced Tesoro to drop the Z and make it an "s".
Better watch out Mibelab.

Seriously its too bad Tesoro never made good on the Caz, might have been a turning point.

ya Mime-Lab watch out....dont worry about innovation, but the lawyers. Couldnt Tesoro just change the name altogether?? Cazador doesnt roll off the tongue easy anyway. What was the abilities of the Tesoro Caz??? Too bad the Lazer .....Laser company couldnt take over the project.

That in itself would be an entirely new concept for some manufacturers to handle - lol
