Question to Nokta on SimplEX
February 25, 2019 11:42AM
Very interested figure "3" standing after the pictogram frequency.
Does it mean that the detector uses a frequency of 3 kHz or something else?
And how many frequencies will SimplEX have?
Is multi-frequency in this detector expected?

Looks like a speaker after the 3.

Folks may be reading here and not have heard of Simplex series detecrtors that are coming eventually.
Here is Dilek introing here in video starting at 4:53 minute mark.

Look at the display - first go icons and then the numeric value of this parameter.
That is, the number "3" comes after the frequency icon.

There is too much uncertainty on that video for this detector model.

When I hear the term intro level waterproof detector stated I don’t think multi freq.
Would be nice though.

But a $200-$400 series offering waterproof is GRAND idea in USA..
If ithey match or beat At Pro for performance watch out!!

Can probably change frequencies seeing they are showing the frequency symbol.

Probably the style of future N/M detectors.

The last setting is the frequency shift. It is a single frequency 13-14 kHz. https://youtu.be/_oYGvilI46U
Simplex Settings:

- Volume
- Brightness
- Iron Volume
- Accept/Reject (Notch)
- Frequency Shift

Unify the company name. Nokta...no more Makro.. I know newbies coming into the scene and the point in having to explain to them that it's one company with two names or two companies with one name is off putting. Maybe Im petty but I think you would just be doing yourself a favor Nokta/Makro..

Waterproof simple machine with a backlight, notching, multiple volume adjustments for 200-400$.. if it's as fast as the Red Racer at that price point it will be a steal. And would probably be my recommendation to anyone new to the hobby. Especially if it's closer to 200$.. I will definitely have one!thumbs down

Sorry for the rant in your thread but the logo on the faceplate.. thumbs up

EDIT: The shaft looks like its worth 100$..This could be a Garret killer here.

I, for one, am eagerly awaiting more info on these new units from Makro/Nokta. They seem to have a penchant for innovation at great pricing!

Without ground balance, with one operating frequency, the detector becomes very weak.
I hope that this is not so ...

Ground balance and a higher frequency would be nice.

Thank you for the characteristics of the detector.
I apologize for the direct question - has the ground balance been excluded from this detector model to meet the low price category?
Why not give the operator the opportunity to balance ground if necessary?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

ps: The characteristics are very good for this price category, I expected a price of $ 400

Re: Question to Nokta on SimplEX

This detector is made to compete with the Minelab Go Find, so although a noble effort indeed, yet an advanced detectorist should've have any preconceived notions that this is going to compete with anything but the lower end starter detectors.

That said, I'm sure Nokta will make a superior product at an unprecedented price point, but let's not get crazy and start thinking it'll replace your Equinox, AT Max, MX Sport, F75, etc.

IMO what people should be keeping their eye on is their SMF detector. If I had to predict the future, given the pattern we've seen since the Red Racer and their development and release cycle, I'd say we'll see the Simplex land this spring/summer, but their SMF detector seems to be good year or so out....2020 at the earliest?

Perhaps Dilek can comment on their Simultaneous Multi Frequency detector ???? She did state at Detectival that it would share the same housing as the Simplex, which appears to be a positive thing.

IDK Cal...she said the top end $400 model would be updateable - built-in wireless - waterpoof. You don't do all of that to have Go-Find or Ace performance do you?

I suspect the performance kills a Go-Find...and is on par with an AT-Pro or something....an intermediate range detector.

I mean hell...these could be repackaged Racer 1's with a streamlined menu for all we know...that would sure as hell beat a Go-Find.

Be a good way of going for the jugular of FTP.....who let's be honest....rules the coop at the sub $500 range.

AT Pro sells like fire still at $500....so imagine a cheaper better version. That would be hard to ignore...

Just talking out loud...I don't disgree with ya...just skeptical they are not shooting for something better.

No, it has nothing to do with the price...we wanted to make it a very easy to use, turn on and go detector. The ground balancing is auto tracking.
However, if the majority of customers demand a GB function to be added (after using the device) it can be done. easily..

And the answer is - absolutely NO:-)
The only thing that is ''entry-level'' about this device is its price.

Nokta/Makro sure has a great spokesperson in Dilek. She knows her products and is quick to answer questions and resolve problems. She promotes with enthusiasm and knowledge. She is a model to emulate, a true advocate for Makro/Nokta. They should be thankful to have her.

I hear what you're saying, but given their target audience, I just wouldn't set expectations too high. I agree, it'll likely be better then the Go Find, if it is a repackaged/refined water proof Red Racer, that's a heck of a deal IMO and would likely be a better machine than the ATP ATM, MXS, etc.

The problem with the myriad of FTP low end to mid-range detectors is they have a TON of them, geesh even the same detectors under different brands (that didn't work out too well for the U.S. auto industry). It reminds me of Kitchen Nightmares, Gorden Ramsey would roll into a failing restaurant with a menu as big as the bible, and then he'd walk into the walk in cooler to find half of the food supplies rotting away due to too many selections on the menu having to be stocked in the cooler. His program was very formulaic, reduce the menu to one page of what you do well and dump the crap. It seems like FTP just cannot let go of the crap - lol

Again...I don't disagree. smileys with beer

But for some reason it seems to work for them. That "Ameritek" rebranding of the F70 as a Patriot was a killer. They sold a ton of them at $399.

Your car analogy is great. I tend to look at it like models. Sport edition...SE...LE...coupe...options options options....

Omega...Delta...Gamma...F44/22/11....F75 SE...LTD...Plus.

You want to roll down your windows by hand to save a few bucks? They got ya covered for sure. cool smiley

It would be a BIG mistake not to have the ability to do a ground grab type GB like your other detectors.

Auto tracking is nice to have, but it also has it's inherent issues in some circumstances.
