Having just been blessed to be a part of pre-release testing a new detector, I can certainly appreciate what the HunterGT is saying (though more fiber might help). I can also appreciate the momentum generated by speculating on a potential breakthrough detector. Can't we all just get along?

We have been promised this mystery PI for several years and emotions and expectations are running high (yet, no machine will fill every niche). I think this will be an awesome unit. If it has a CTXish price it will limit it's market, but while no machine is for everyone (a few good finds could pay for it). I can't begin imagine the R&D cost needed to be recovered for this unit in addition to the usual hidden costs to bring a product to market and support it's warranty for a few years, warehouse, sales staff, legal costs, potential liabilities and on and on.

There are sooooo many things I don't feel I can afford, but I get so much joy and health benefits from detecting that I make it the one thing, my not so guilty pleasure, where I'll save and spend.

Way too early to be arguing about a machine not on the market yet. Testers do their thing and may or may not be biased....heck some may even be paid by First Texas, dealers, ect....This is the time of hush, speculation, hush, speculation. Nothing to get mad about...LOL. Price-wise it may be worth it....some dont bat an eye at the price of Minelab GPX 5000. Great new tech for the market. Consumer win

Share or don't share. If you want your butt kissed you should try one of those porno chat rooms. I am just a person who enjoys beach metal detecting. I look for new and better equipment all the time. And yeah anything costing two grand requires planning and saving on my part. My rudeness was in response to the MIT post. I took offense and will not put up with BS posts like that. I am a person that will tell anyone to GFY real quick. And to be honest I am not sorry one little bit. Now you have choice. The first sentence says it all. I don't know you and never will. That is the magic of the internet.

I read Ricks question to mean that.... the purported strength of this detectors will be it ability to recover the gold while handling extreme levels of mineralization and salt. When you switch to a low (or zero) mineral beach, does it still have the advantage?

I'm really hoping that the reported depths its pulling targets from mineralized salt beaches will only improve in the freshwater environment.

Simple regular updates from the Marketing Manager from First Texas would stop
most of this guess work and speculation of these new and exciting upcoming units_

They do have a Marketing Manager, yes?

What did FT ever do to you RC? Your animus towards them seems very deep seated.

Does First Texas have a Marketing Manager Rick?

Please try to stay focused_I have simply stated that someone from ANY manufacturer
could put a lot of speculation to rest if they were pro-active in promoting their products
through communicating via social media_

If done well, its been proven to work_In fact it can take not one but two companies from
virtual obscurity to be leading a the industry in a handful of years_Of course if it's not done well
it can and no doubt will have the opposite effect_

Which do you prefer if you do not mind me asking Rick?_Someone from the company informing their
loyal customers of what to expect with the upcoming release etc, or simply leave it to snippets of information
from the few that know what to expect, the some who could know what to expect and the many who
would like to know what to expect_As they say if its not coming from the horses mouth, who do you believe?

What did First Texas ever do to me Rick?_

They are the ones solely responsible for getting me addicted to this hobby_That incredible Dave Johnson
for one_I have also stated that I hope FT bring out a unit dedicated to him 'collectors edition' or something like that_

Please do not confuse frustration with hostility _I am simply saying that - is it not about time someone from FT
with a bit of motivation and passion get off their chuff and put some bloody effort into promoting their products
which were designed by a bloody legend in the industry who DID put some bloody time into making them_

For goodness sake, his products need the same effort put into marketing the bloody things_All this butt kissing
does nothing for improving their bottom line_All I been hearing from the likes of you Mr Rick and with respect is,
how wonderful these detectors really are. They are, so where is the enthusiasm from FT in promoting them?
That's still left up to those dedicated brand loyal guys like you and GT Hunter etc_That in itself is NOT fair_

Surely there is still someone left with a drive and enthusiasm to grab FT Marketing by the horns_They missed that
boat by a few years at another manufacturer and I am thinking that if FT do not find someone mature, professional and
with a passion for the products, then a similar fate could follow_That is something no-one wants to see so that is why
First Texas need to have a GOOD STRONG Marketing team to mimic how their competition communicate with their
customers_

No hate here Rick_No butt kissing either_just frustrated when the solution is in front of them

I really do hope they hit it out of the park with this unit but there appears to be bugger all enthusiasm coming from the horse

I wrote a witty and thoughtful reply, but it was foolish.

You are entitled to your opinion - as are the hundreds of thousands of customers who happily buy their products around the world EVERY YEAR. I guess their marketing isn’t that bad.

Hang in there. Someday they may meet your expectations.

BS post?????? 5 different threads about a detector that hasn’t even been officially announced on a
forum where the proprietor asks for keeping detectors to a unified thread and my comment is BS????
Spend some time building your own PIs and modifying current VLF circuits and your opinion will matter!
Good day sir.

Hold on guyz, scarcity of information is as well a marketing trick , it more oriented toward viral marketing. Long teasing make user spectulate therefore give free visibility to the product.
Beta testers cannot give us information as they are tied with nda contract that can lead to prosecution if broken especialy in the us.

What could be bad for us, if it's ft will limit the units qty at release , we've seen that with the eqx at least in france, i dont like differed release already.

I don't care if you can build a nuclear reactor. I didn't start the new thread and you are not a moderator. Your post was rude and you were a jerk. But hey you can build your own coils. Puts you right up there in detecting royalty.

Guys .... lets put this train back on the tracks. I guess i started this by doing a thread for an update without realizing to bump the original one. I have been getting some useful information..... which has got the wheels turning...... so if you would lets not slam the door in Fishers face here. I think its great to see the real guys behind this detector willing to answer the questions they can ... we dont get this opportunity very often.... we normally get marketing hype without real info.

It's like a press briefing here where Sarah Sanders tells off reporters. Kind of amusing with all the GFY's being thrown around,... feels like I'm back on the job site.
I can understand the excitement and the need to know all about this newfangled super detector. I, for one don't get too frenzied about things like this. How many times in your life were you disappointed after getting all charged up.....too many to count. Relax fellas...or not, I usually enjoy the show.

As far as marketing goes, what is the best way to bring these new products to light,... S l o w l y or just !!BAHM!! here it is?..... What way would you prefer?

Ask away. I had my say. My apologies to those that want only information about what looks to be a fine detector. I wish First Texas great success. A great company that has produced great memories for me.

Of all people Ozzie you are correct- a metal detectorist.
At the beach folks dig hoping for what ??? Gold
Does it happen ?
Hardly ever.

Digging in turf.
Get high tone.
Dig hoping for coin.
Does it always happen.
No.

So we as a group face dissapoinment regularly.

Couldn’t prove it by me reading what some have posted in this thread.

Ole Ozzie sure can put things in perspective.

Slow public release, delayed field tests, lack of indepth feature details, or even rumors of limited supply of units can bring a buying frenzy and of course the hottest Forum Topic. This hush hush (NDA) Tester time can also give the manufacturer leeway to fix last minute flaws or tweak software.......an extension of a later release date is not unheard of.
