Problem w Equinox Headphones........
June 15, 2019 03:25PM
I can’t seem to get my headphones to charge, I’ve tried several different sources to plug the USB into, no dice.

Anyone else have any problems w theirs?

What "sources" are you using?

Are you following the recommendations in the manual?

Here is the instructions direct from the manual:

1. Connect the supplied charging cable to the USB socket in the headphones.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to a powered USB-A port.
3. The Status LED will turn red and remain on during charging.
4. Once the battery is fully charged, the LED will turn off.

I have 2 different iPhone usb blocks, and another usb block from a different device.

All I’m getting is the 3 red lights to turn on, no charge. Just using the audio module for now.

the 3 red lights means its charging. How long are you leaving it plugged in?

The module is actually the way to go. I'd stick with that. Much better sound.

I switched over to the module a few months ago and I'll never go back.

Silver fiend- I’ve left it on over night....

Badger- I haven’t even used the module, I’m going out to detect right now, I’ll give it a go....

Thanks, Aaron

BINGO!!
For those who want to be all they can be with Equinox 800, use the module not the wireless headphones. There is a difference. As one gets more time in with Equinox they’ll indeed hear what I am talking about if they’ll switch to module after getting used to wireless headphones.
Especially in more polluted iron sites.

When relic hunting, I have dug nonferrous items using module and walkman phones. Listening to the same targets undisturbed (same settings on detector) using oem wireless headphones sounded like ferrous target.

The tiniest bit of gained nuance can make a real difference.

Aaron,
My hunting buddy dropped his on the sidewalk...afterwards they wouldn't charge.

They worked fine, otherwise.

He had to send them in, and ML replaced them for him.

David- Tried the module, seems to have a tendency to cut in and out.....

Mike- I don’t think I dropped them, I know I’ve charged them before.

Thanks, Aaron

Make sure you push the plug all the way into the module until it clicks.

I have read that guys are having troubles because of the not so robust charging port on the headphones. It's time to contact Minelab and send them in.

I have used module loads. And have walked to my truck with detector left behind laying beside a supposed undug find. My best guess is I can get around 30-40 feet away and still be getting detector sound. I have been over 50 feet away from detector and can hear the detector start come in headphones as I get nearer.
Using the module as intended there should be NO cutting out period. So something is wrong (either operator error or module/ Wi stream part of detector is faulty). Suspect the first.

Were headphones plugged into wall charger during thunderstorm??
Friendly reminder.
Don’t charge any of the components with household power during thunderstorms. Could cause damage.

Yes I’m quite aware of power surges during storms.

I live in the city, there’s a lot of EMI, a lot of times I can only run as high as 20 before I’m getting chatter.

I’ll just plug the phones straight into the unit and avoid any other problems. The module may be good for some however to me, it’s just one other thing you have to keep track of and charge.

Wireless is a huge luxury. Why throw it away?

If the headphones are cutting out while using the module, it can be one of three things.

1. You didn't push the plug all the way into the module (which happened to me).

2. There is something wrong with the headphones.

3. There is something wrong with the module.

Charging is easy. Just charge the detector and module together after every hunt. Whatever you do, don't let any of the batteries sit around for long periods without a charge.

You paid good money for the detector. Everything should work as advertised.

The charging port on the wireless headphones is tight on mine when plugging in the cable. It has the potential to be a problem.

Aaron did you try a different cable? I have had quite a few of them go bad that I use to charge my cellphone with.
