top 5 deepest machines?

with all these new machines its hard to know where we are so we need some shootouts to get some idea of what are the deepest machines now,, by air tests and hearsay and actual digs

This sounds like a typical Geotech1 thread:
"i am wanting finding golden treasures 10 metres deep. what depest detector i am needing please"
Re: top 5 deepest machines?

Equinox has been a deep machine for what I do....
Re: top 5 deepest machines?

I don't think depth performance has changed much in the last 15 or 20 years. The new machines aren't any deeper that what was available back then. The only exception might be the way some of the newer machines deal with bad soil or around iron.

At the beach, only the Tarsacci has gone beyond the conventional multi frequency depth model which has held steady for quite some time.

It depends on ground and who is using the detector and how well he knows it etc.
In my moderate ground the CZ-3D, Nautilus IIBa, and Etrac/Explorers are the deepest I have used. But I have years using all 3 not weeks.

Haha, I had to laugh when I read this. Yup. And the person who posts a question like that, and/or "wants to know the deepest machine", will .... of course ... be willing to deal with any downsides that you might list. Right ? After all, they want "the deepest". Right ?

Ok, then you can refer them to a multitude of pulse machines (nuggets, beach, 2-box, etc...) that go "balls-to-the-walls" deep. But the devil is in the details, eh ? Eg.: lacks any form of reliable discrimination. Or in the case of 2-box units, can't find individual coins, eh ?

So you turn this person loose in the nearest area that is littered with nails and cans. And ... then you hear the sound of crickets.

The "Angry East Europeans" that frequent Geotech1 usually tell the "Golden treasure hunter" to use earth-moving equipment to shift 9.5 metres of soil, then use a metal detector to locate the 10 metre deep treasure!

3.5 meters will that do ?

In my mild soil the Troy Shadow X5 followed by the Nautilus DMCllBa.

Yeah.
Better to ask.
What is deepest machine and one that won’t have one digging deep iron.
Low mineralization
Medium mineralization
High mineralization.

LOL, they are right to the point, aren't they. I make a stop there every day....................

DeepTech Vista X with 3 search coils.
Works for me

haha, and here's the fastest way to hear the "sound of crickets" to those posts: You tell them the honest truth of : "what is deepest" (6 or 10 meters or whatever) : You point them in the direction of the Minelab nugget machines. Guaranteed to find those vaults and caches to insane depths. Right ?

And they will tell you that they don't mind digging junk, a few nails, etc... Right ?

Ok , then with that "deepest machine", you turn them loose. And then ........... you will hear the sound of crickets. You never see a post from them again . It's not that the treasures aren't "most certainly there". It's simply that they need a machine that goes deeper yet.

ignoring the silly replies i would say the nexus is the deepest as its stands

I would tend too agree with you on that statement,i use both a Nexus MP with a selection of coils and also a Nexus Standard SE with the dual 9'' coil, both deep and certainly more than enough depth for me and also still decent on small Roman coinage.

Another site specific use machine that i use is the TDI Pro current large coils upto 20'' Mono and the smallest is the 7.5'' DF coil,of course the larger the coil used it will diminish your smaller coins/artifact but increase your chances on larger artifact/hoards/caches etc.

Also for depth i use a 'original' Crossbow Pulse from George Overton with a Garrett 14x10 mono coil that is used on the SeaHunter not overly good on small coins but primary used for larger artifact/hoard hunting on clean pasture sites or when one suspects a possibly scattered hoard.

My original green T2 that i use with the 17x15 BIG Nel coil and running in AM mode also punches deep than say a normal 11'' coil that is used on most modern machines, the art i guess is when too use these coils and also for the appropriate target size as well.

Deep machines or more specialist machines are not your everyday detector but they do have uses, still own and 'occasional' use my Fisher TW-5 twin box but that is very occasionally and only if i think the odds are in my favour then that is the only time that machines comes out to play.

Your question is way too vague, that's why you've got a poor response.

Tell us what you're wanting to find deep: grain-weight gold nuggets? milled coins? cannonballs?
What about their location: wet salt beach? heavily mineralised Tennessee dirt? mildly mineralised dirt? unmineralised freshwater beach? black sand?
Do you want any kind of discrimination ? This is pretty important as it determines whether PI is included or not, in many situations.

Even your own reply: "the Nexus" is meaningless, they make/have made many different machines, with a selection of coil sizes, including huge ones. So which particular machine/coil combination did you think was good, and under what circumstances? What other machines did you compare it to ?

In Virginia, the Nautilus2ba is the deepest I have ever used. I believe the inventor was able to push his transmit power past what was acceptable at the time. Transmit power can be cranked to 44 volts. Shells dug at 2 to 3 feet are common with the standard10 in coil. Just my opinion. I use a Dues and Equinox with good results but they can't match a Nautilus.

Pimento, don't you know the stock answer to this type question by now ?

The pat-answer will be: "All of the above". What can be so hard about that answer , eh ? smoking smiley

I found the AKA Signum MFD deep with disc on high conductor coins, a Nexus Credo deep in all metal, with low khz, on larger coins and relics.

Fisher CZ series
Minelab E-Trac/ Explorer series
Here in Florida

Oh for God sake I almost forgot my EQ 800
Which is my beach detector.

A Little Bump:

Those Geotech1 hopefuls are not just wanting detectors for finding "10 metres deep golden treasures". There's a new thread there, a guy wanting a pinpointer that finds objects 50cm ( 20 inches ) deep. Honestly. And when jokingly asked "only 50cm ?", he replied '"Yes, I don't need it to go 2 metres deep, just 50cm". He did add the objects he wanted to find were large. Presumably huge pots full of gold, with diamonds and rubies spilling over the edge.

In my semi-mild Maryland dirt my top 3 are:

1. DeepTech Vista X
2. Fisher F75
3. Minelab Equinox 800

The Equinox and F75 are neck and neck kind of, in some situations, they will each out-depth the other.

Re: top 5 deepest machines?

My answer would be the machine YOU learn the best, in the kind of ground YOU hunt and for the types of targets that YOU hunt for and the settings YOU use on the detector. The biggest factor for getting depth is not necessarily the detector, but it is YOU. Get a detector made for the way YOU hunt and learn that detector. YOU can not learn any detector if it is left in the closet.
