Thanks folks, we do don't find English coins that much older here. Around 1170 Ireland came under the English rule of Henry 11, there was no Romans here but there is the odd Viking coin found.
The oldest English i have is King John 1199-1216.

I LUV 'stubble season!'
Easy digging...
Only snag fresh cut stubble can be hard to press coil to soil and can also be "very noisy", as the coil cover scrapes forward progress!

But, with the first new detecting since crops were sown brings new items to within easy detection depth and the growing season also creates a nice 'halo effect', to enable finds!
That's one reason people report [ great finds ] with 'new detectors', since the last visit a year past with a different detector!

Either way, 'tis a beautiful sight', Fields of Gold ( freshly baled straw ) and fresh cut fields...

Around Sept young men here start to let the facial hair grow for hunting season. Now that is stubble season.

Thanks folks, just sold the Deus today, it's a lovely machine in good ground, but most of my permissions are mineralized pasture, and the Equinox is the best tool for this job imho.
