Persons traveling by air - beware — Some MAC Book Pros banned

No recalled lithium batteries are transportable by air. HP laptops were recalled a while back also as I recall.

It’s up to the airlines to take appropriate steps to ensure that they are not carried in checked or hand luggage.

These 15” MacBook Pros were recalled by Apple some time ago. In the unlikely event that someone on this forum has one, There is an easy way to look up if you unit’s serial number is. One of the recalled one.

More to the point, if your shiny new modern detector with a lithium battery has the battery recalled - your machine just went on the “do not fly list” till the battery is replaced.

There is frankly a lot to be said for Nickel Metal Hydrate batteries - way less problematic even though they self-discharge faster.

This what I am referring to made world news yesterday.
So evidently some folks have them and some have been confiscated or the folks were ban from flying with these items.
Also note the date of the linked inof above. Very recent.
Just trying to help folks out.
Some folks here do fly.
Some quite often too I think.

They may be officially banned, but I can tell you TSA at the airports are not checking laptops for battery recalls.
