I still can't determine if this detector is simultaneous multi frequency and which frequencies it is using.
Re: Vanquish

clearly says it on the box... multi

OMG enough lol if only they would put this effort into detectors.

As you must know----there is a difference between multi frequencies & simultaneous multi frequencies.
Re: Vanquish
September 15, 2019 04:50PM
Well.... I am assuming multi IQ means that it's simultaneous multi frequency like the Nox. It does say simultaneously multi frequency on the box as well.
Re: Vanquish
September 15, 2019 05:01PM
Even the button layout is very Ace/AT'ish but the plastic looks very cheap, like some of the low end FTP machines.
Re: Vanquish
September 15, 2019 05:02PM
I guess some of you have a better picture of the box. I blow it up and get blurry words. I see multi IQ. No mention in the tech specs about frequency numbers. But in the end I'm not buying one anyways.
Re: Vanquish
September 15, 2019 05:06PM
Word is it's defo multi IQ, and running the same freqs as the Nox.

OK, no one has asked yet, so I will be the one to toss out the dumb question...

I am guessing NO, but...

Will these coils work on the Equinox?

I kinda figured the masses on here knew what multi iq is but I might have been mistaken

Multi-Choice of a single frequency at any given time.
Simultaneous-Multiple(more than 1) frequencies all the time.

I think they have different connectors, personally I'd love them coils for the Nox

I agree wouldn't mind the coils but they can only go 3 FT under the water.

Re: Vanquish

I'd like that V8 8"x5" Double-D coil for my EQ800. The coil selection seem to validate the coin & relic focus, hopefully they don't forget the EQ crowd.
Re: Vanquish
September 15, 2019 11:38PM
So what would that coil offer? The 6 inch coil only offers 12 percent better performance in seperation. Anything larger has to be around 5 percent.

Multi IQ doesn't seem to need a small coil at all.
Re: Vanquish
September 16, 2019 01:23AM
I'm with Cal. Give us the 8x5 coil for the Equinox. Everybody with an Equinox would buy a mid size coil. Lighter, better balance and great in the water. Depth still great.
Re: Vanquish

Not everyone.
Re: Vanquish
September 16, 2019 03:37AM
It wasn't that long ago when we had this same exact discussion on this board about coils and the Equinox. I dunno why the need to rehash it. Everyone stated their reasons and the majority wanted an in between coil.. either a 9 inch round coil or an elliptical coil.
Re: Vanquish
September 16, 2019 08:55AM
We rehash it because of a post that Tom made about the 6 inch coil only offering a 12 percent advantage in seperation.

I was unaware we need preapproval for discussions. Sorry for disrupting your forum. Oh wait.......

I think you're just butthurt because you tried speaking for everybody the last time this came up and found yourself in the minority. You couldn't handle being wrong so you want a "recount".
Re: Vanquish

Seems like a nice little backup machine. If someone wants to go with me to learn. It seems perfect for that. I'll consider it for sure
Re: Vanquish
September 16, 2019 05:39PM
Setting the record straight: VNQ is indeed Simultaneous Multi Frequency.
Re: Vanquish
September 16, 2019 05:47PM
Thanks Tom.. I was really confused when on a video a rep said the VanQ's beach mode was based on the EQ and it performed the same on the beach. Looks more like a non waterproofed EQ than an upgraded Xterra now.

A guy from Russia turned this detector on and uploaded a few minutes long clip: [youtu.be]

NASA-Tom, can you also confirm that VNQ coils are incompatible with the EQX, as I assume they are?

Thanks!

Re: Vanquish

If you can adjust the 'user custom profile' to be similar to the field 1 or 2 on the Nox, I'll definitely be buying one for my daughter to borrow off me.
Re: Vanquish
September 16, 2019 08:53PM
Hard to say but after watching that video, I don't think I'll be buying one, even as a backup. If you're new to the hobby, it would be a great machine. But for other experienced users it looks like a step back to me. I get what market they are trying to capture though and I think they have a winner there for sure. It will be interesting to see if there is a backlog of orders like the Equinox once it's officially out.

Makes you wonder what the other metal detector manufactures that have access to multi-frequency have been doing. I can think of two that could have gone after this same market and released a similar machine. There have got to be some worried CEO's IMO. Time to wake up!

Minelab now pretty much has the market dominated from entry level to expensive PI's, with no competition except XP (and that is a small niche) IMO of course. Maybe Fisher with a PI but how many years has it been now waiting for that?

I was not alone. CALABASH agreed with me that the 6 inch was a waste of money. But in any event that was not the point. The point was and is that I do not need your permission for any post. So that is the end of that.

Also I really don't care what coils are released and who buys them. It has no effect on me at all. Minelab could release 10 coils for the Equinox and i would still ask the same question. What is the benefit of the new coil? If the answer is still 12 percent or less my reply would still be the same.......A waste of money!

It is quite similar to the EQX.

steveg…….. At this time...… I cannot answer your question.
