Hello there! Just wanted to chime in so people are not misled by your fresh water comment - SIMPLEX+ does work on wet sand as well as salt water.

Why waterproof for me? I live in Florida and throughout the summer we get afternoon rains...routinely and I like not having to worry about my equipment getting wet. Secondly, I hunt our beaches and although I don't go in the water to any great depth these days, the inadvertent wave or dropped detector won't bother me like it did when I owned a Safari. Lastly, ours is an outdoor sport so our equipment should be able to withstand the outdoor elements with no worries in my view.

Bottom Line: At 71, I've become picky. Light weight, user friendly, waterproof and multi frequency. winking smiley

Just the view from my wet foxhole! smiling smiley

Great work from both Minelab & Nokta-Makro in keeping the US manufacturers out of the game_

Simplex or Vanquish? - at those prices you can have both or hadn't you all noticed?

No "misleading" intended. Single freq machines do work to a degree on wet salt sand and in salt water but my own testing has always shown multi freq to offer better stability and depth in those conditions. Thus the annotation. I use what I feel is the best tool for the job.

For me having a waterproof detector means more that just a submersible machine. It also means dust proof and rainproof. I also feel that the construction is more engineered and of better quality. However the price point of the V340 at just $199 will now put in the masses hands a Multi IQ machine that will hunt better than 90% of the machines sold. Plus reap the rewards of wet salt beach hunting. This can be good or bad depending how you look at it?

ITS AN INTRODUCTORY METAL DETECTOR -

Looks like a damn fine waterproof metal detector for a little over $300 -

Better Simplex comparison test vid (vs Equinox and Dues XP):

Crazy. I think he was using Field 1 like his last test but the Simplex is amazing.
Re: Vanquish

I could take the test more seriously if it was a well established testbed, rather than freshly dug holes.

looks cheap and poor ergonomics as usual .looks like it was designed by a plumber
Re: Vanquish

I just got this email from someone who obviously has an issue with both
Nokta-Makro and now myself - First off, yes I love Nokta-Makro, as I do
Minelab, Garrett, Teknetics, Fisher etc - In fact my main unit is a Minelab
and I was looking at purchasing a Simplex for a backup/loaner -

Now because I questioned someone who has an obvious hate on for NM in
a thread, I am now a target of an abusive email from that same person, telling me
what I should and shouldn't say -

"Hey @#$%&, yes you.
>
Why don't you shut your friggin mouth for a while?
All you ever do is spout praises to a company you
are obviously in love with. That much has been obvious
for a while now. If you think copying other manufacturers
designs with less than stellar performance is "innovative"
and what the "fastest growing company" should be producing...
then YOU are the slow learner. The only BS is what you spout in
every one of your stupid posts. Now go masturbate or
whatever it is you do to a poster of your dearly beloved crappy
detector company.

Now I used to fully respect this member and hang off almost his every word
but since the Simplex has come into play I for the life of me cannot
understand why he has such a hate on for a product that appears to be
phenomenal for the price -

Brand Loyal, well the locals in NZ have said to me on more than one occasion that I
should be, but I could not think of anything more boring that to limit myself to
one manufacturer like many of the haters in this hobby - I try to be as impartial as I can
but when I see a product like this I get a lot excited so I suppose
that can be confused with being loyal to that particular company - my bad confused smiley

In conclusion regardless of where your allegiance lays, everyone is a winner because if
you already have a multi-IQ Minelab then you have already got a top end detector_Why not
compliment that with a budget single frequency unit that packs a lot for the money OR if
you already have a top end Nokta-Makro, then the Vanquish would certainly compliment that
unit as well - I don't understand all the hate on such an unrivaled release -

That is sad. That is so bizarre that it borders on needing help.

I agree with goodmore. That person needs an examination......maybe their sugar is off.....cranky, cranky. Doesn't sound like anyone on this forum.

Yeah, he needs help! Life has to be pretty miserable for someone to react like that. HH jim tn

One things for sure, the Vanquish if running the same IQ as the Nox, will totally smash the Simplex on these targets.

@Ghound:
Maybe you are unaware, but Photobucket now severely blur AND watermark all your images. Only by actually clicking on the pic to take us to your photo album can we see it properly. You may as well just post a html link, it would be just as effective. You probably have the appropriate cookies on your computer, as the uploader, so everything looks OK to you.

Quote:"If the Vanquish is running the same IQ as the Nox"
That's one thing people have overlooked. There's no definition for "Multi-IQ", so some slimmed-down variant is possible, for example just two frequencies, or three, but not going so high as the Eqx does. One thing I noticed when looking at the X-ray photos of the Eqx coil, is that the TX coil appears to be wound with Litz multi-stranded wire, which is expensive stuff. Maybe one reason is because Eqx uses high frequencies ( up to 39kHz). To make these new machines cheap, ML have to keep the coil reasonably cheap, too. So a more conventional guts is needed.
Also, if you run lower frequencies, the electronics doesn't need to be so high performance, ie. it can be cheaper. Slower microprocessor, slower analogue-to-digital converter, maybe lower bit-count, too.
