Thanks for sharing the link tnsharpshooter,

It does look impressive, looking forward to seeing future products of theirs. Was looking over some of the models, didn’t realize they still make and sell the GTI 2500 Imaging model. Thought it was discontinued years ago.

Good to see you posting, hope all is well old friend.

I would not be surprised if Garretts have done a website revamp as sales across the boardmust have been hit pretty hard because of no recent new models or major detector upgrades.

My 'personal prediction' is that Whites must be really struggling to survive and if Garrett dont do anything soon they could also be in a dodgy situation as well due to lack of sales.

Anyone have first hand knowledge of whites or Garrett's sales compared to any other brands? I see alot of comments about these companies and them going under and I've searched but can't seem to find any public sales info for any brand.Just speculation?

Not sure how accurate it is since they are a private company and don't have to report their financial info. They have Whites listed in CA, and their website says OR. https://www.owler.com/company/garrett https://www.owler.com/company/whiteselectronicsmetaldetectors

Just remembered they have a paywall for non members. You only get a few views. Garret has the security business that helps their bottom end. Minelab has military contracts. Fisher includes Teknetics and Bounty Hunter/First Texas. Whites seems like the low hanging fruit.

Garrett 51.7M
Minelab 44.2M
Fisher 36.2M
Whites 16.9M

Thank you for the info.I agree, Garrett and minelab have other avenues to earn revenue with out the hobbie sales..I'm sure that's a huge chunk of they're net sales. With that being said it seems first Texas would have the best revenue in the hobbiest sales, and whites isn't doing too shabby themselves in that respect.

does that website say how old the data is?I just wonder is those numbers are pre or post equinox. It would also be interesting to see the numbers a year after the Vanquish drops.

[I saw a post where it said minelab sold 180 million last year. Dont know how true it was...

Definitely hasn't been updated in a couple of years. Still lists Garrett CEO as Mrs Garrett. Steve Novakovich is the new CEO. I would love to see the afternox numbers!

I dont know how to post pics, but I found Codan's annual report for 2019. Minelabs sales totaled 182.1M.
2018 was 164M
2017 was 148M
2016 was 99M
and 2015 was 73M

I wonder if any other detector company has had 150% sales increase in the last 5 years? I wonder what the sales will look like next year with the V sales included?

Thanks for finding that! It's really interesting that the biggest single year jump -- over 50% -- is between 2016 and 2017. I didn't think the Nox was officially released until 2018, so am surprised that 2017 was such a good year for Minelab. Maybe they counted the Nox pre-sales?

Minelab sells alot of gold locating electronics in Africa and around the world. That and military contracts are they're cash cow..
Garrett sells police wands, walk through metal detectors for airports and just about everywhere else you see one.

Both of those companies sales or spikes in sales have nothing to do with hobbie metal detectors.lol..

I wouldnt say it quite like that. Minelabs biggest sales % comes from the gold market, and those are the same detectors we are buying. They are just going to a dedicated full-time market instead of a part-time hobbyist. The explosion of people swinging EQXs is surely putting a big part of the last couple years of increase on the board. That has to be coming at the expense of other brand machines.

As for Garrett, you are correct that they have a huge market in selling to the security sector. Its forward thinking like that which will keep a company alive when the hobby market sales take a hit.

I'm sure

The equinox is a hobbiest metal detector...proffesional gold hunters looking for pounds, not grams would certainly be buying minelabs $4,000 to $8,000 dollar professional machines ,, not hobbie machines . I know if I was in a gold rich place like Africa and doing it professionaly as a income id want the best.Equinox is good for hobbiest, but not a proffesional machine.Sorry man, I'm not buying that philosophy

Youre misinterpreting what I wrote. I wasnt meaning that the African gold fields are being filled with Equinoxes. I meant that the full time gold hunters in Africa are using the exact same gold hunting detectors that we are buying here. Same machine, but selling by the container load on the other side of the world.

regardless ....... I think Minelab & Nokta Makro are serving up their US
counterparts at an alarming rate -

what is coming from these big profiting US manufacturers that will compete
with the Anfibio's, Equinox's, Vanquish's, Simplex's etc to name a few?

or are they now simply concentrating on the military (popular these days)
and security, while leaving the hobby detectors to their competition?

Ok, I gotcha now..yea, I misunderstood you..i think minelab has a good thing going in the hobbie side ,and the commercial side too.
