Thanks Carl. Hopefully you get the chance to spend some time with Tom and catch up. Once again thanks we all appreciate the information and always your input

Carl, When I said “we”, I meant those of us lobbying for Tom, can’t speak for everyone else...

we had an aquastar
the last one sold by Foster n ° 21
in this photo from 2013
the first Manta was already better

I found gold with AQUASTAR
but the aquamanta of 2016 was already much better

AQ is out of reach for the Aquastar
even modify, its design is too old
it generates too much noise

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Detector used : Fisher Aquamanta /

Pulsepower Goldscan 5c / Aquastar / Goldquest SSV3 / Nexus Coronado / Vista Gold

Hmmm.....yeah those stock units don’t compare to Toms “super charged” Aqua-star LeJag....
Re: FTP....will you PLEASE let us know....

The day Carl told me that TOM had told him that it was the second best detector for him after AQUASTAR, I was very surprised.

I had owned the last issue of AQUASTAR, number 21 during many years.

I have redraw the boards (retroengineering) many times. His electronic have no secrets for me.

The Aquastar has the exact same board as the deepstar 3, the coil is different.

The Aquastar is a powerful but unstable device, it requires an extremely slow sweep. As soon as you swept slightly faster, it detect the conductivity of the sand saturated with sea water.

It is not effective in terms of :
detection time / area covered / weight of gold ratio found.

However for the person who detects at 50cm per second, with the SAT SPEED at 0, it is powerful, but far from competing with the recent version of the IMPULSE AQ.

The impulse AQ is comparatively fast, stable and very sensitive in depth to gold. Maybe it is less powerful than the Aquastar on an 14K gold crucifix near 0.5 gr, it is possible, although I doubt it.

But what is the point of finding 0.5 gr when you can find rings 20 times heavier faster and deeper?

On the picture below :
- LAST DEEPSTAR 3
- LAST AQUASTAR
- GOLDQUEST SSV 3
- GOLDQUEST SS
- GOLDSCAN 5 (after we had GOLDSCAN 5C LAST NUMBER)
- GOLDQUEST 14V
- GPX 5000
- TDI PULSESCAN FIRST VERSION
- MANTA V3

What a well embodied, complete-circle thread. Thanks to all of those (behind-the-scenes) folks seeking full-circle closure. (Didn't know I had that many behind-the-scenes supporters)!
Carl...…. thanks for the data/update. Mike Scott called and confirmed a few things..... just a few hours ago.
I know folks are hungry for data...…… and I will oblige in my usual (prudent) technical/finite-data fashion...… and see who I can bore with excessive attention-to-tiny-detail info. I will do such...… in factual, real-World, realistic fashion...… so as to (potentially) diffuse any (marketing deadly) 'over-expectations' instilled mindset.
Whether I receive the AQ before (or after) product rollout...… all reporting intents will remain unfettered.

Gee. That sure took a long time.

Seriously, when some business is betting piles of their own money (no angel investors here) on a new product, can you blame them for not blabbing about every bump on the road they hit on the way to El Droado???

This gets my vote for best thread of the year!

All I want to know, goldenretriever and LE.JAG, is what the hell is that big ugly yellow thing next to all those PI machines?
Re: FTP....will you PLEASE let us know....
January 09, 2020 08:44AM
Keeps sounding better. Is it not impressive those that Eric was able to produce such a powerful machine .... and then tune Toms to be more what he needed? Took a bit for new school to catch up. Just curious how much new board components contributed to making this machine? What kind of time period difference are we talking about? These are the kind of people we all enjoy seeing post..... such a wealth of information. I think/if Alexandre could some time fill us in on how this machine all came about it would be one interesting story.

I understand why you don’t get some of us wanting this almost micro gold. But there are some heavier targets because of their sensitivity we also miss... like chains well within what we are digging now. We’re a pretty young country compared to EU......we get excited finding raw gold pickers, wheat pennies and rusted relics in that century range. Why.... why would you design a detector.... we just like the hobby. Eventually fewer pieces of large gold won’t be there or there will be fewer and fewer found. But gold fever will be the drive to unmask more .... and less weight size gold already within our detectors depth range.... I guess some of us still like the numbers count at the end of the year.....it’s a form of competition I guess .... others just want a head start lol.

Golden retriever - where’s your comparison YouTube video?. That would be a real interesting one!
This thread leaves me wondering how much of “the secret sauce” is in the coil?

Here’s an old video showing a Deepstar, a GPX5000, a TDI and an early prototype of the Manta. Much time has passed and the Manta’s transformation into the AQ has included lots of improvements in sensitivity. Large men’s gold ring - 8 grams. The deepstar is the same circuit as the Aquastar (although Tom’s has been modified).

Hey, there they are! These are the OLD vids we used to discuss about. They disappeared a year or so ago. Glad to see them back. I see the user channel name has changed too. I wonder if the original french bench testing (proof of concept) vids will come back eventually too?

Aaron....... let me see we have Carl, Alexandre, JAG.... and Tom making contributions here....... and you dont want me to ask questions? You know better.

Do not worry, I am preparing a very large personal website, with:

• Get Started
• Knowledge Base
• Key Technologies

There will be links to new YouTube channels, with:

• comparative videos on each detector
• technical videos of presentation of the material
• Key Technologies videos
• videos of general knowledge

You just have to wait a bit.

Getting excited about this machine. Me and Cliff during our hunt today were digging some really deep ....most junk.... targets..... bury the scoop and then some targets. The AQ is really going to give us all a work out.

Hey Rick. How did the assembly of your AQ go, a half-month ago?

Assembly went fine, initial testing went fine. A recent bout of hospitalization has slowed things right down however.
