David,

Compass GoldScanner(non-meter) is a good model, Compass GoldScanner Pro (meter-ID) another good model for its time. Dug my first gold coin with a Compass GoldScanner Pro, very fast recovery speed terrific in areas laced with iron and handles tough soil pretty good.

Cant remember who Ole Tex is, Wish the best for him. Some old timers have a hard time with new technology, Equinox is a good all-rounder detector but it can be challenging for some. Although, I enjoyed Findmal haven’t been there going on two years. Good forum, just don’t have time to visit there. This forum and Steve’s forum are all I visit now, that’s plenty to catch-up with current events and such.

Im still swinging the Tarsacci. Very impressive detector, deepest non-Pi relic detector I have. Deeper than the Equinox, use both but lately switched back to the Tarsacci for that extra depth.

Hope all is well my friend,
Paul

Paul I suspected it was a good model. George wouldn’t be wanting one if it wasn’t. Thanks for the info Paul. I knew virtually nothing about the model.

I think you'll find George is looking for an Eric Foster Goldscan 5c PULSE machine....not a vintage Compass VLF.
Big difference.

Thanks El and Mike,

I should have known, George is Ole Tex. I loose track of who’s who, but with our friend George he changes his forum name about as much as he changes metal detectors : )

Okay, So it’s an original Eric Foster GoldScan 5c Pi he’s searching for. That’s going to be tough to locate, Especially in good working condition. My original GoldScan 5 went to Whites Electronics, Eric Foster was just starting to work with Whites and asked me to let Whites purchase my GS5. Then, Whites built the TDI base after Jimmy Sierra tested my original GS5. From here, the proto-types went out and George was one of the testers.

El, Let’s get together and hunt button hill, give me a ring when it’s plowed. You need to see the Tarsacci, it’ll do extremely well in that soil.

HH, Paul

Hello David,

I see George is searching for an Eric Foster GoldScanner 5, my mistake just assumed it was a Compass GoldScanner. An Eric Foster GS5 are tough to locate especially in good working condition, good luck George it’ll be touch finding a good one.

David, hope all is well and you’re getting out there digging some holes!

HH, Paul
