Anyone interested in the source of Lyme disease should investigate the theory of Plum Island off the coast of Lyme, Connecticut.
It housed an animal research laboratory and they did experiments on the Texas lone star tic that supposedly migrated to the mainland by birds.

Remember the theory that the Aids epidemic originated in Africa by natives eating Chimpanzees?
Remember the videos of chimpanzees using "tools" or long blades of grass to pull termites out of termite mounds and eating them?

In Wuhan, China they were eating bats and snakes.
Bats eat insects.

Common denominator is don't eat anything that feeds on insects.

World hunger is the culprit here and nothing cures world hunger better than the wealth of capitalism.

A lot of people are against genetically selected and engineered crops but the truth is they have done more to cure world hunger than anything else.

Chickens eat insects.
Re: Finland going down

True but most of the chickens we consume are raised on chicken farms, penned up and forced fed grain to fatten them up. Some say it's cruel but maybe it's safe?

The so called "green raised", "free range" chickens are probably fed well enough to avoid having to chase insects.

Basically the same concept as social security. It's not a hand out, and when they say it's an entitlement, that's correct, you paid into it since your first legit tax collecting job, so you are entitled to collect it when you hit the appropriate age. This safety net should be obvious, too many people lack the discipline or fundamental understanding of economics to save on their own, so the govt does it on your behalf with your own money. Yet it continues to be this ridiculous political football, never understood that, it's a pretty straight forward concept.

In no way, shape or form am I defending China one bit, but you might want to do a little research before posting such erroneous info. Yes some of them do eat these things to an extent, but they are mainly because they've been ingrained into their culture for decades, likely from a time when they had to eat it or die, and it just because an accepted thing to eat. Every see chicken feet at a Chinese buffet? I have, I'm not eating them, but I'm sure these types of cuisines stem from a time when the poor ate anything they could get their hands on and that's true of a lot of countries that've had a history of poverty, these foods that are bizarre to western society have roots from impoverishment. Their not mainstream staples by any stretch of the imagination in this day and age. People eat alligators and snakes in the U.S. as well, although generally for different reasons (more of a delicacy?) so go figure.

For those that believe China's poor, you might be surprised by the massive economic overhaul they've achieved in the past 40'ish years. [en.wikipedia.org]

There's a very good site that takes all of the data for each country and even each state into account for historical and predictive modeling, even includes when/if they started shelter-in-place, and other restrictions, hospital constraints, etc. It's interesting to see how what I call the "stupid states" vs the rest of the country are predicted to fare in this (hint: it's typically not good). Basically by not implementing any of the precautions, their perpetuating the problem.

Just to be clear, the issues isn't because the Chinese eat bats (which they may do, but that wasn't the cause of this). Bats are an unique animal, their immune to an incredible amount of infectious diseases, so they end up being great transporters of them. Most scientists believe the bats (which mostly eat fruit) as the carriers, urinate on the animals in the live animal markets. As the animals are slaughtered right then and there, the urine is mixed in, and dinner now becomes the genesis of the virus spread.

These issues tend to be less common in the U.S. due to more strict guidelines from the USDA, as well as routine animal testing, but anything is possible. Although we have more protections built into our food chain, it's not inconceivable that the issue could've started here as well, it's just less likely, but still possible.

The Chinese population (working class) is poor.

The country oligarchs are rich.

Just like Cuba and Venezuela.

Compared to the rest of the world?

Americans don't know how well off they are.

Whining and victimization is real popular right now.

If an American doesn't have the latest and greatest smart phone they think that they appear poor.

How about no electricity, no indoor plumbing, no food, no medical care, no religious freedom.
Re: Finland going down
April 09, 2020 11:43AM
Why do we have to compare ourselves to the rest of the world? Actually, there are quite a few countries that are pretty well off and use smart phones, too.

I think most americans do know how well off we are. Some won't admit it and others of us just take our well being for granted.

Sure there is some whining and spouting of victimization. Much, however, imho, is brought on by politicians and special interest groups.

If one can afford a smart phone, what is wrong with having one?

Yes, there are places in the world that have no electricity, plumbing, very little food at times and medical care or religious freedom. And if one is so inclined there are numerous organizations that donations can be sent to for aiding such. Are you one that is so inclined to help, robocop? Or, is it just more fun to generalize and piss on the USA, a country you still live in (I assume) for its over all good fortunes. Much of which came about through hard work. I for one don't feel guilty for having been successful and for living in a pretty damn nice country. Stay safe! HH jim tn

You have the wrong spin on me.

I'm not downgrading America, I'm criticizing the Socialists promoters who Lenin described as "Useful Idiots" to promote the socialist agenda.

Lenin realized that all societies have a collection of malcontents, schizos and people with just no common sense that can be easily manipulated.

Divisive politics in this country has turned them in to a voting bloc.

robocop, I sincerely apologize. Seems like we both spin the same. Stay safe. HH jim tn
Re: Finland going down
April 09, 2020 08:29PM
So how can you criticize socialism when our current president has basically become the largest supporter of socialism?

Hey I'm not saying he is wrong. But the facts are facts. When the chips are down this capitalist country turns to socialism every time.

I repeat......every time. The current President and his supporters have lost the right to condemn socialism. Well unless they want to be two faced hypocrits.

So lighten up on the old conservative talking points. They no longer apply. The sooner former conservatives admit that they were wrong on socialism the sooner this country can unite.

The longer this crisis goes on the worse it will get for the current administration. The worse it gets the more he will look the person we all know he is. Donnie is his own worst enemy. Time will tell all. The election process will be the verdict. Nothing else up until now means a hoot.
