Can the Vista X do anything the Equinox can't?

Just trying to figure out my next detector. Maybe something that offers an improvement in certain situations over the 'Nox.

In mineralized dirt the X is deeper it also has a better coil selection than the nox

How about mild ground like Ole' Cals?

One can always if they desire make a stop sign out of the Vista X coil, be tough to do with EQX coil.

Hard to believe a single freq VLF can outperform a properly setup SMF in mineralized soils, not saying it can't happen, but....

Cal I know that's hard to believe but I and Keith have both experienced these results. Nox wouldn't hit my 10" dime no matter what the settings were. The Vista X smacks it easily. Why I don't know but it does. Even the little 5.7" coil for the X gets it but not as good.

What about the Mighty Nox in the new updated 4kHz setting? I have to admit I love the silver warble it will do in that setting if it was that way in Multi I would buy one.

I would say its more of a relic unit for iron sifting. With ability to hunt modern areas second to a metered unit with notches etc..

It's old school analog but with a couple of modern type twist. like iron volume and tone break by disc setting.

Compared to my Equinox in mild soil, it can outresolve it in terms of depth in every target except for the really really small low conductors, and it's pretty close there. The Equinox has some advantages, can swing a lot faster in heavy iron being one of them, and that's a bonus for me because I like to swing like I just snorted a pencil sized line of coke. But yeah, for farm fields I'll pick the Vista X over the Equinox every time, the depth difference is pretty big in my soil..2 inche difference or more for many targets.

I wish there was one available to try in my test garden. My soil is very mineral free. What kind of depths are you getting?

Big line of coke. Man, that takes me back to my younger days. They were good times for a year or two. Then it kind of sucked. Glad I stopped.

Haha, I might have dabbled in my wild youth before the Army got ahold of me. I have the exact numbers written down at home (at work now), I'll report back later when I have those in front of me so I don't speak out of turn. The only one I remember for sure off the top of my head is the Vista is the only detector that has hit a 13" Merc in the garden, though I will caveat that was with a hot ground balance which is how I always run it. Also not implying that an Equinox somewhere can't hit a silver dime that deep, I've heard rumors, just hasn't happened for me no matter how hot or what adjustment of settings I ran over it with.

I am able to pick up the 13" silver dime in my test garden using 4 kHz in Field 1, Recovery speed 4, but it is right on the edge of detection. None of the other mode/frequency combinations on the Equinox will get a peep out of that dime.

I heard someone on a forum say the X is close to acting like a Nautilus. Twenty years ago no detector could match the depth of a Nautilus. In Virginia, only a serious CW relic hunter would use a Nauty. I would consider an X if they were built here.
