not sure either cal! just tossed that out there, and NOT being (marvin the mind reader)
have no idea if first texas was interested, or not.as you mentioned, and i agree, moreland, and johnson,
BOTH work for first texas, and probably could care less, but again, who can really say if they made an inquirery
as to the possibility of acquisition.i believe garrett will "play" with the circuit designs of both the v3 i, and the mxt
with the objective of up dating them...could be interesting going forward...i'm just sayin'

"when you just rearrange the deck chairs on a sinking ship, the ship still sinks!"
interesting analogy!..

Ive been in the hobby 6 years and have tried Minelab, White's, Fisher, Makro machines with good results.
The only company I steered clear of trying was Garrett because of the high cost and bulky and lack-lustre offerings.
If Garrett plays things right by learning from the failures of White's and Tesoro, they night be able to avoid the same fate.
From what I have seen in the past 6 years though, Garrett is being left behind by the new offerings by Minelab, Nokta, Makro and the Bulgarian companies as well.
Interesting times to be sure.

i agree! not really sold on any of garrett's offerings. they HAVE accumulated cash,
but appeared to be 'stuck" with single frequency equipment for a long time.NOT sure if
they possessed the engineering talent to develop (s.m.f.),or maybe they have been constantly 'engaged"
all this time to bring forward (s.m.f.).there was a long period when minelab was gaining prominence
with (multi frequency)and garrett was "spinning it's wheels" (so to speak).i believe garrett "has" to develop
a (s.m.f.) design to ''compete" with minelab,or their business will be greatly diminished going forward.

First off I am not a Garrett fan boy as I have only had two of their models since starting with this hobby back in the early 70's, but I think Garrett will be o k going forward.

Garrett, likt F T with its night optics division, has a strong security device division and least we forget, continues to sell large numbers of their Ace entry level detectors, much like F T and its Bounty Hunter division does. Although the Apex is disappointing to most of us on this forum, its not altogether so with a lot of Garrett fans.

What Garrett saw for acquiring White's is pure speculation on all our parts, but seemingly they saw something. All just my thinking, anyway. HH jim tn

I think the future of metal detector manufacturers comes down to two things -

Companies that DO listen to THEIR customers &
implement their notable ideas into their designs

&

those that pretend to listen, yet release their products with a 'take it or leave it' ideology

Do you think Garrett will utilize Whites production line (XVenture) in China?

no! i believe they will dump it!..garrett prides itself on "made in america"
equipment, and playing with the chinese will be repugnant to them.
they do need to offer a (s.m.f.) that will "compete" with minelab "head to head"

Are Garrett metal detector electronic components all made in America?
I doubt it.

I think it would of been better if Whites were sold to some private individuals with with the know how . I have never been impressed with a Garrett machine. I have tried several over the years and I have totally given up on them. As for Whites I loved the V3i , Given time it is an impressive machine, But whites dropped the ball years ago too. I pretty much stick with the Minelabs and Fisher/Tek machines They are proven and work great for me.

works for me!

The world is catching up. It's very difficult to compete with lower cost foreign made electronic devices.

There are a lot of made in American products that use foreign parts....especially electronics. Some well known brand products are labeled as "designed" in America, but made overseas. Automobiles are made from parts around the world. We now need to have both standard and metric tools to work on a USA made car.
