Wow, that's pretty amazing, two forum members getting almost identical cut Spanish on the same day. Have you found those before?

The bits can be found in a lot of places in USA. Even in interior areas especially near navigatable waters. This is exactly where I found mine (approx 10 bits) in Tn.
They are cut so chances are a year won’t be able to be derived, but depending on size and where’s coin is cut it may be assigned a year group based on design coin bears front and back.
Te bits btw were used to ale change after using larger silver to purchase or used with other smaller bits to make purchases. You will hear the term pieces of eight. This term more associated with the Spanish dollar being cut. Sometimes in quarters or even slices of eight like a pie. Smaller denomination coins were cut too.
In my area I have found bits and a gent who used to detect actually in the area I frequently hunted have made finds dating in the 1700 and 1800 era. Imo also possible to see maybe even one 1600 era coins cut,

Thanks eveyone! I have found 2 cut ones and one cob...Got 3 whole ones also. The one I found today was from a 2 Reale..

Thanks TN, I never found a cut silver and was curious if they dated only one century or not.
