Coiltek coils for equinox

Was a little surprised to not see more discussed about the new Coiltek coils. I usually buy first, ask questions later when it comes to detecting gear, to no fault of anyone else. I preordered the 10x5 coil in hopes of having just a little more coverage than the 6” and separation than the stock coil. Even though the real test will be when I use it, I am curious if any of you guys that have been able to test the coils actually saw results that at least give credence to their suggested applications? From posts I’ve seen, it seems like you really don’t need to stray away from the stock coil since the detector was centered around it which was kind of enlightening. Once I got the other coils I rarely used the stock.

I use the stock coil for all my hunting. I have never seen the need for any other coil. If you like your new coil share your opinion.

I am curious about the 10x5, but was waiting for some reviews before I pulled the trigger. Was hoping for something similar to the Garrett 5x8 without the iron falsing tendencies of the EQX 6 inch coil.

I second that!! That little coil LOVES to call square nails, silver coins!

I've the 15" coiltek coming this week, I have the Minelab 15" to compare it with.

Generally speaking, at least to me , many aftermarket coils outperform factory coils . That should not be the case.

I would really-really like to know what you think about the two! Thanks

Oh nice, where did you order from? I haven’t heard a peep

Ah okay, makes sense. I know a lot of people in the UK have been getting theirs. Best of luck to you when you get it!

Wonder if the stock 11 inch will get a coin in those nails. I'll have to try that when I get home today.

The 11 inch coil will hit a quarter in that config if you cherry pick it. With a normal swing speed you would probably miss it.

Can you explain how you use “cherry picking?” Thanks
Re: Coiltek coils for equinox

That is when you hover the coil in a small/tight motion directly over the target to get a tone. If you were to swing the coil past the same target at a normal speed then you would only hear the nails. A lot of youtubers use this trick when they are trying to sell you a detector/coil. Nobody hunts that way in real life.

In my part of the world "Cherry Picking" is setting the discrimination high so you only get coins above zinc and silver jewelry.

That's what it means to me as well. As in cherry-picking the silver coins while ignoring most of the junk.

Cherry Picking is when you just go after certain targets and leave others behind.
