Ok, if they are listening, here's what I want : A detector that can tell the difference between alloyed gold and aluminum. What's so hard about that, eh ? smoking smiley

Makro has always listened, and took action. I'm assuming your talking about another company?

Well this is crystal clear. I would like a detector that identifies only gold with a 99% certainty. Then it must dig it out without dammage to the target and put it in my pouch. Easy Peasy.

The day that digging gold becomes 99 percent accurate is the day that the competition from people that never held a detector before becomes a reality. Digging pulltabs is hobby security.

The number of companies is dwindling. I'll guess Makro multi frequency machine.

Not sure which company or companies are dwindling? Garrett bought whites out, so whites is still viable and Garrett is just gaining more steam. Tesoro is the only company that's not in play as far as I know.

It remains to be seen whether Garrett will do anything with the White's acquisition. They may have bought the name just to eliminate the competition.

I have a feeling First Texas isn't doing too well, but that's just a hunch.

Garrett will not compete against themselves with the Whites brand name. Any technology breakthroughs will have a Garrett name on the label. Tesoro is gone. First Texas? Well just the posts on this forum alone over the last 5 years from some of their most loyal customers are a sign of concern.

Makro
Minelab
Garrett
XP

The rest need to step up and show the people in the hobby something worth spending their money on. I hope I'm surprised. I'm not from Missouri but....show me.

first Texas is a large corporation with is well diversified.
even if they fade in the hobby market, they will still be ok
I still expect something out of El Paso within a 6 month time frame.
they will NOT go quietly. my take.

Doesn't seem like they are listening. For example coils. Lots of of wants and needs but some manufacturers still haven't produced what customers have been asking for.

Really?

What have FT released, since Nokta-Makro released their original Racer?

Six months you reckon? - New Labels & Boxes or are we talking NEW Models & Tech?

Why is it that the US manufacturers appear to be struggling, while others flourish?

Seems to me that the American companies have been handed down or acquired/merged, and the current company leaders aren't focused on metal detecting innovation. Maybe they don't see the hobby as profitable as other electronic ventures? I'm sure Garrett gets a bigger return on their security business. First Texas seems to be branching out into other things. Even Fisher's Impulse AQ was someone else's design. They were just trying to help bring it to the market. Whites was just ran into the ground and had fallen behind too far to catch up. Maybe the American companies just don't have the talent to compete?

wishful thinking! perhaps I am in denial! (not a river in Egypt! )
it is quite possible the "bottom" line may not be there anymore! millennials don't appear
to be all that thrilled with metal detecting.more and more liability issues with regard to personal property.
long time hobbyists getting older with "health" issues."slush" funds depleted due to covid....
lack of engineers entering the hobby detector field.prefering to "cast their lot" with defense companies
making new weapons..etc..etc.
