Depends on what you consider new tech, and old tech. I haven't seen nothing earth shattering in 10 years. Sure some new features here and there but what's getting ready to be released tommorow isn't gonna find much more than what was released 10 years ago. At least not for me. Then again I'm not in any competition with anyone either. Use what makes your hunting the most fun.

Quick question guys. Will a T2 or F75 with a stock coil even hit a 15 inch coin in a air test?
Re: Old tech VS New Tech

Interesting thread.

You know the more I think about this.

As far as SMF vs single freq detectors.
Seems some have their minds made up.

This bring back memories for me back when synthetic oil for autos came out. There were naysayers. Nonbelievers.
And today where are we with synthetic oil for autos?
Seems most autos comes with it from factory.
And notice how much thinner synthetic oil can be and still be worthy for an engine.
Yeah try running Dino 0-20 in an auto and watch what happens.
Now there is 0w-16 synthetic oil.

So one of 2 things has happened.
#1 Either the folks at Minelab have took folks for a ride.
#2 the folks at Minelab indeed see distinct advantages using smf over single frequency detectors.

My money is on #2 above.

Also NASA Tom seems uses EQX and Tarsacci. The F75 gets little to no mention by him. This has been the case here it seems since EQX 800 debuted.

Just imagine.
Wonder if FBS detectors would never have been created and sold. Same goes for EQX models.
How much old coin age would still be lurking in the parks?

In due time we will have the low down on Deus 2 vs Eqx vs the new Nokta Makro multi freq model.
Wonder what else besides the above is out there on the horizon that could be released SMF detector wise? Who knows.

The posts where NASA Tom talks about EMI. Folks should read those. Yeah some folks have hunted sites and think they got all detectable with their detector. Maybe they did, but maybe they didn't.

Cheers.

NOT sure about the f75 hitting a 15 inch coin in a air test. But I'm pretty sure no machine made will hit a 15 inch coin in the dirt,or sand for that matter.Nothing personal but if anyone says they've found a 15 inch coin with they're machine I'd hafto question they're ruler

the T2 is a fine relic machine .. I've never swung a F75 and always wondered how it differed .. 90% of the time I'm running in all metal and as wide open as the area allows .. the other 10% I'm in some form of discrimination, hunting parks for rings and the like .. the all metal mode allows for one to hear the different sizes of the targets and also there are different reports as to what the target may be .. all the deep zip=zips that don't register on the TID scale gets a check out .. with some of those the size can rule out the need for digging .. all differences in the reports are noticeable with a bit of practice .. but square nails gets dug from time to time .. then there are those really deep targets that just break the hum .. did you ever test out those signals? .. sometimes size can be determined with these also .. but what the hell do I know .. to prove my statements as BS by showing the limits of the new tech says a lot to me .. especially with a 10 or 11 inch dime on top of a pile of dirt .. that isn't all that revolutionary and can be done with quite a few detectors. .. probably even with a Tejon or Cibola .. there are a couple parks I hunt where the clad dimes start close to that deep.. but still, good find.

my T2 air tests well past 15", with the 11" biaxial coil. ..a few inches further with a 13" coil .. tid doesn't function accurately much past the 10 " mark .. depending on target.

Show us the video of the 15 inch coins. Also why you are at it show the video of all the other machines you speak of hitting 10 to 11 inch silver dimes..

Only for certain niche hunting situations.

But see how mean cal-cobra is ? He mocks my Explorer and calls it the "Dino 2K" . And mocks my Deus and calls it the "french poodle". And have I ever made fun of his Nox 800 ? NNNEEEOoooo >grinning smiley< See what I gotta put up with ? angry smiley

Cal, I just did an air test to respond to your post. This was on the dining room table with some emi issues. At full sensitivity 0 disc in boost process. It did hit a nickel at 15”, quarter at about 14”, penny and dime in the 12” range. Boost process is the only discriminate mode that would get to 15”.all metal mode wide open faired much better

Something tells me that you're not going to be able to replicate those depths , in real world conditions, in-the-field.

In the 10 years of hunting with the t2 the deepest target I’ve dug was a 1800s large cent which was as deep as my elbow to my fingertips in wet marshy ground. A little over 15 inches. It was in all metal mode which I hardly ever use. It’s tough to get that kind of depth but it’s possible under the right conditions.

I'm not going to make a video just to show what I already know .. you are into making videos .. make one proving my machine can't do what I say it can .. I'll just keep hunting and digging .. you're the one saying I should not stay in the hobby and swing a T2, but seriously, I think you missed something with that machine .. so, I'll get a nox and deus, is there a calabash discount? .. that way I can stay in the hobby for a while longer .. and hold my head up high instead of using my inferior old tech machine and acting like the fool I am ..everybody driving by and pointing at me and such (I think they're calling me names) .. one thing for sure though is the T2, even with the dst, is a EMI meter but a deep target hitting emi meter .. I believe, might be wrong, but the F75/T2 started the "can it hit a ten inch dime" standard still used today. .. even with that, the standard has been in place for quite some time considering all the new tech. ... it's been a fun day, thanks.

yea...no problems here .. I've been smiling all day .. and it does take a bunch to listen to the all metal side in many places, but that is what I have and have found it very capable. .. the Deus II has peaked my interest.

Hey don't you have a 14" dime buried in you mild soil test garden? You have ran a few detectors over that I'm thinking and most failed to see it. Maybe I'm wrong. I did use an F75 LTD for years and did well with it. But the deus killed that love affair. As far as older tech goes the f75 is probably my favorite detector.

Re: Old tech VS New Tech

I'm going outside and burying a 18 inch dime tonight so it'll be seasoned when my Deus 2 gets here...lol.. Then I'll have the deepest testbed in town.

If you know a CZ you can avoid most deep nails and it is great in the trash items
I mentioned above.I don't mind a deep nail or two in an old park but those steel bottle caps will drive you nuts and they can be deep too. I dug them down 8"-9" before along with deep waded up Little balls of foil with a Coinstrike as it loved them.

Harold, I am familiar with the "tricks" that the old CZ6 users could use, to avoid the false positives that deep nails (especially bent ones) were prone to give.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the tricks was that the nails tended to only give a one-way beep. Right ?

However, the "gotcha" in that, was that so-too did/could very deep coins also admittedly give "one-way-beeps" too. Right ?

And the trick of using the pinpoint all-metal mode to cross check the suspected target. If the pinpoint were not in the same spot as the disc. spot, then it was likely a nail. Right ?

But in all honesty, weren't you at risk of loosing the fabled depth, the minute you to implement the "tricks" ?

I knew guys who did quite well with their CZ's. Especially @ wet salt beach (where they totally kicked #ss), and in wide open furrowed fields. But when it came to junky turfed parks @ cherry picking : Not so much.
Re: Old tech VS New Tech
November 17, 2021 12:58PM
Deep coins have a good four way modulated hit with a deep soft tight pinpoint. That why I run my volume at 4 so I can tell the difference in depth. If they are deep standing on end or small sure you get fooled but deep coins sound like that too so you have to dig them but not so much in a old park. If you are near where a old band stand was then you dig your share but parks around here I do not dig that many. Etracs can like a deep nail or two on occasion also. The Explorers I do not have as much time on so will not comment on a machine I have not used at least a year or two straight as that how long it takes IMO to really know a detector.
Re: Old tech VS New Tech
November 17, 2021 02:24PM
I had the CZ6A,CZ7 and CZ 20.
Like Tom mentioned bent OLD nails was my problem.
I found my fair share of stuff with them they work and I think you can still do alright with them today.

What ever happened to FREEDOM of CHOICE?? Cannot a person use the detector that he/she CHOOSES to use,for a variety of reasons, without some shill from the Woke freaks telling them they need to fall in line OR ELSE.
