Looking to buy a good 3D and FZ 12 coil.....

I know it is a tall order but sooner or later someone has to give one up and if I don't ask I won't find one. lol

I am truly envious of all of you that have this set up. =)

If I don't find one soon I may be forced to go over to the dark side. An Explorer with a WOT!!!! OH NO!!

Prayer, voodoo and witchcraft haven't worked yet but I still have other persuasive methods short of giving up my soul.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then...

The CZ3D maybe, a serial number 1021 a little less maybe, the FZ 12 coil..... I have only seen one sold in over a year. But I will keep my eyes open for you.

I live in the world of black sand (SoCal). I love my CZ21. Also have a Sand Shark with the Clean Sweep. I like the ground the CS coil covers in a short time but still wind up digging practically everything. I'm a sailor and already have Popeye arms. The tonal selectivity of the CZ with a big coil would be heaven.

In the mean time I may opt for a newer 3D with the 10.5".

A CZ with the 10.5 inch coil is no slouch (speaking from experience since I have an FZ12).

Willl keep a lookout....CZ3D maybe...FZ12 needle in haystack as Sunray sure makes pricey excellent coils and not made anymore 12 inch excells on large beaches and fields etc. and really gives you super coverage and above all
several more inches...

I hope you are a weight lifter if you even think of a Explorer and a WOT coil whereas larger coils you can hipmount the CZ.....

Agreed, regarding the CZ 10.5, great coil. However...the FZ-12 weighs almost the same and is 1.5 bigger. I've been wondering about this for awhile now, so I just weighed the two. Ralph has some top secret super light expoxy that he use's in his coils. Its the same thing with the MineLab coils too, the 12" SunRay only weighs only around a ounce more than the 10.5 Procoil, its pretty easy to swing too.

The older CZ's (1021 models) aren't as rare as many think. They DO indeed come up fairly often on craigslist or many of the treasure hunting websites. Just have to check daily or a few times a week & stay on top of it. I'd say one comes up every month or so on average. Of course, there's no telling what the price, condition & previous ownership will be since these machines are quite in demand. Hope Tom or anyone else doesn't mind me posting this, but, the classifieds section on Treasure Depot gets a LOT of action. Find Mall is pretty good too. Aside from these two sites, stay on top of ebay & craigslist.

Just so you know, you also have the option of the newer model CZ's too. Some claim the depth is nearly identical, others not. I've never tried the newer one myself - only my 1021, so, no opinion. But, the option IS there for you if you choose to go that route

Prices can swing wildly on the 1021's. I paid $600 for mine & the seller wouldn't budge. My buddy paid $500 for his. Anywhere in this ballpark is quite normal & a good deal due to how superior these units are. Just make sure of the condition & deal with a reputable & verifiable seller. Oh yeah, make sure to have Tom check it out for you if he can. The investment is tiny, but, the reassurance & once over is priceless.

I see the Sunray coils come up a few times a year. It's a very worthy coil to seek out, it's a great turf hunter as well, I've pulled many silver coins from worked out parks with it. I had a great time with it in New York a couple of years ago (popped a seated dime from a classical town square that had obviously been hit hard).

Oh and it's actually 12.5", so it's 2" larger then the large Fisher coil

That all Craigslist search is really great! Just what I needed, something else to occupy another hour of my time each day looking for the weird and obscure. lol

To keep in practice I took the CZ21 for a walk yesterday along a local towel line. Got the usual clad, some trash, toys, some silver rings, small gold and boobs. Nothing flash except for one spectacular brunette... So anyway this one detector guy is working the same line about twenty minutes behind me swinging his hip mounted Whites Dual Field a foot off the sand. He is all kitted out with a dual field, camelback, hand scoop, various sieve thingys and doodads hanging off his belt. Looked like inspector gadget. A dealers best customer. Surprised he didn't have a solar panel on his head. Did I mention he had the tallest socks I have ever seen? I swear they went up to his armpits. Just wear pants dude. A few hours later we crossed paths, he didn't look happy. I said "Hi" he mumbled something which included "bunch of trash". I love my CZ.

For the time being I may buck up for a new 3D. Can you get one with only the 10.5" or do I have to buy it with the 8 and the 10.5"? My cz21 is an 8" so I kinda have that base covered.

They are laying all over the sand out here. Always in your way. Falsing can be a problem on some but they are prized. Don't even need to use your scoop. Well.... on occasion.... but only in defense.

We got thunderstorms, hail, 60 mph winds and waterspouts off of Newport today. That's the last time I do a FZ-12 dance. I am hoping it lets up so I can scrape the sand at low tide. I can see the headlines " Man Killed By Lightning While Detecting Local Beach".
