I have found that keeping the sensitivity lower (in the 50 to 60 range) in JE or PF mode generally works better for me as this means LESS noise but MORE useful/diggable signals. Do you find the same ? I think that the sensitivity control is more like a volume control rather than a gain.

Yes, the 'volume' becomes more modulated as Sens is lowered.......like a volume control........ but only to a certain point. Too low of a Sens setting, and depth will become affected. Running the Sens at lower settings can stabilize the unit, making it less fatiguing & more intelligible......and, in areas where EMI is an issue, it can also mitigate some of this external interference.
