Found awhile back with my Fisher CZ-3D.

Soaked it in white vinegar for a week. All the rust fell off. Gave it a good soap and water bath, dried it. then sprayed it down with WD-40. Will put a coating on to prevent rust soon. Here's the before and after pics.

Nice!! GC, can it be identified?, size, year, battel, etc. Could use some schooling on cannon balls, anyone?

It *should* be a British 9lb shot. I have to get it weighed accurately and measure the diameter. Only people who had cannons here in the interior were the British though. No battles to speak of ever here, but was alot of forts.

That's amazing. It looks as good as electrolysis. I put some of my iron artifacts in some white vinegar with a lid on it to set for a week and give it a try.
