The ad banner here is the intelligent type wich is more and more common on the net. Whatever you search for on the net pops up as advertidment in the banner.

For me its now GoPro cameras an sure enough it pops up in the banner from different sources.

Try it, its really amazing how it can follow your wishes.

If you turn off scripting, they all magically disappear, and the page loads much faster.

How do you do that??? I am using the Firefox browser. I also noticed that I did a few searches for mini-lathes on the internet, and now mini-lathe ads are popping up everywhere!!!! Everytime I watch a Youtube video, there will be a mini-lathe ad at the bottom of the screen!!! I thought that it was coincedental. But they have sure enough figured out how to place an ad for something I showed interest in into every page that pops up!!! Amazing!

Sorry, know nothing about Firefox, there's probably an option somewhere, it's not the most useful trick, lots of web-pages just won't work properly these days without scripting. But....advanced PC meddlers only...just for fun...try doing a filesearch on your hard-drive for a file named jscript.dll , if you find it (in Windows system files, probably) rename it jscriptX.dll , so it won't run, and see if you get the result. Obviously, rename it back to the original name to revert to normal.

Tracking cookies. Gotta love their idea of 'intelligent browsing'. LOL

Ad on for Firefox called "NoScript" blocks all scripts on pages, you can selectively choose to allow some or all of the scripts on a page.

It's out there fellows! Go get it!

Most any browser and/or Internet Security software has some type of pop-up blocker.....turn it ON.

If you are using any microsoft OS...and microsoft browser just click tools>pop-up block (turn on pop-up blocker, choose from low/med/high)

to block scripts using any microsoft browser, again click on tools>internet options>security>custom level for internet zone>scroll down to "active
scripting", check "disable", ok , check apply.....done

If you are not using any internet security....you playing with fire.....assuming you are using something like Kaspersky Internet Security,

click on settings>go down to>anti-banner>enable anti-banner........Done......no more ads/banners

To turn flash player on a per website use, (Adobe is most common), click on Tools>manage add-ons>shockwave flash object>more information>click "remove all sites"......done.......yet note you will see this , a yellow banner at top of page that says "This website want to run the following add-on 'Adobe Flash Player.... If you trust the website and the add-on and want to allow it to run click here"......Then you can make the judgement to allow it or not by simply clicking on the said banner.

Please note some banners/ads are flash based.....Do not let flash player (if installed) run rampantly on ALL sites.....Why....they permanently leave
flash-cookies on your computer forever....unless manually deleted OR by using some free utility or add on that finds them for you and either blocks them or deletes them....personally I find it necessary to search for "application data" using the Windows search function and permanenty delete them using window washer or CCleaner or some other free/paid for utility.

FYI...... by blocking active scripting , you CAN save pictures that you may come across that have "Right-Clicking disabled" .

Necessity IS the Mother of Invention.....If I had the money, I would definitely buy one...they used to say Macs were immune to viruses/malware..
not any more....I believe mostly because there ARE so many out there now........wanna trade a six year old XP desktop....??

Not 100% immune but very, very resistant. My daughter has never had an issue with her 4-year old MacBook running it in a college environment with every social media program loaded.

Having had my old XP so long......I have learned many things that scare the crap out of me and so should everyone that does anything online.

Check out this:

[usa.kaspersky.com]

and most disturbing, this:

[www.wilderssecurity.com] (just click on that first reddit link)

Gone are the days of 14 yr. olds.......doing things just to be able to say they did.....the landscape has changed...for the worse.

Just because one does not notice something is amiss does not mean it is not.
After reading all of the above........tell me how secure you feel.

At least you have ads worth looking at. Mine are all dive boots at the moment. Not very exciting :-)

I remember once several years ago when I was researching something on the web that had something to do with the Amazons. I typed in "amazon" in the search engine and pushed the Enter button. I have never saw such gattling gun effect of windows opening up with all kinds of amazon women in my life. The windows were opening up so fast I couldn't close them down. I couldn't even turn the computer off. It was very excitable there for a minute or two as I had no control of my computer. In desperation I reached over and unplugged it from the wall recepticle.

When my oldest son was living at home, he stayed up all night on the internet playing video games. He was fooling around on some site like youtube after we had all gone to bed one night and the sound was extreamly low. He turned his volumn up and could only hear whispers. He turned it up to max and still whispers. He then turned the monitor speakers up to max and had his ear down to the speaker trying to hear what they were saying when suddenly with everything full blast comes a guys voice screaming

"Hey everybody, I'm watching gay porn on the computer!"

Talk about getting set up! Ha Ha.
