ID Edge Iron Disc Question

On the ID Edge I've been trying to figure out the best way to run it in the typical "bed of nails" environment. A member on the findmall forum suggested to do the following when hunting in the infamous "bed of nails" sites:

"I like to run sens up till theres no falsing on iron +36 -36 jumps using the small coil and dig all positive number's. Run the disc at -36 and just listen to all the iron low hits then a higher hit is very obvious. In dense iron, especially nails, check some of those targets that read right below 0 like -5 -10 not to many pieces of iron read in that area could be a co-located target."


Running the ID Edge disc at -36 effectively means no discrimination.

Tom you have been presenting the iron disc settings that you find to be the 'critical' disc setting for "just barely" disc'ing out small iron. Such as 16 on the Omega and 6 on the F75 (and I presume as well as the F70). In light of the helpful suggestion above, do you feel that -36 on the ID Edge is the way to go, or is there a better disc setting to use such as you have recommended on the Omega and F75 (F70?) ??

When you say "small iron" are we talking square nails, iron blood spots, or ?

Also do you feel the Omega would have any advantage over the Edge in 'bed of nails' iron (using either the concentric elliptical or the new 11" DD?), and why?

The best thing to do is to find out the exact setting (iron Disc) that will just barely get rid of.... discriminate..... your SPECIFIC type of decomposed nails. Yes, most nails is what is referred to as 'small iron'.
The Omega would work quite a bit better than the Edge..... simply due to the fact that you can install a elliptical DD coil on it. This type of coil presents a very tight electromagnetic footprint..... that can not be surpassed by a concentric coil.
