New 3D only air tests at 8"
December 03, 2009 03:00AM
Just got my 3d today. I really like it, (just like my cz 70) although bummed because I couldnt use it because it started raining right when I finished work, figures. I'm alittle concerned though. I air tested it with a dime at only 8 inches, sensitivity set at 6, ground at 5 (as per Nasa Toms instructions). I thought I read that Tom says that the 3D does not air test that well anyway.
What do you guys think?
Thanks, Aaron

Aaron... Try the test again using the following information:

First,

Try an outdoor air-test with a dime. Settings:

Disc. = '0' (not auto-tune)
Sens. = '5'
Gnd Bal = '10'
Volume = '10'
Mode = 'enhance'

Keep the coil away from ALL metal objects. Do NOT place the dime on the ground. Keep the dime parallel (not tilted) to the coil...... wave the dime in front of the coil.....and report how far the unit will detect the dime. Should be around 11" (+/-) 1".
