Used noise cancel #11, audio gain = 30 with the 18”x15” SEF coil, 13” Ultimate coil, Pro coil, and the Minelab 8” coil. Sensitivity level varied depending on coil.

After several hunts over the last few weeks, the last 2 hunts produced a 14k 2.87g gold heart pendant, a 1901 corroded V-nickel, an 1887-s seated dime, and a silver letter “A” pendant.

On the next to last hunt, went back to the park that produced 10k gold teeth back in November. At the opposite side of the park, located an area with some potential, detected a shallow 1940 nickel. It doesn’t sound like much, but at this part of the park, this “is” my oldest coin so far. Decided to do a thorough search of this area using the Procoil. Dug the typical pulltabs/tab parts, foil, and some nails. Got a 12-07 signal, and assumed it was another piece of foil for me to dig. But persistently digging all those aluminum trash signals resulted in my 1st 2014 gold find.
A few meters further, got an old-looking piece of costume jewelry. Several more meter, a 1901 V-nickel. And after that, a small silver letter “A” pendant. At the end of the day, only hunted around 1/5 of the area, but it looks like previous detectorists hunted here primarily for silver coins, leaving the low conductive targets, so there may be 1 or 2 more gold jewelry targets left in this area.

On the last hunt, went back to the beach that had produced a multitude of silver and gold finds or the last 4 years. I put the 13” Ultimate coil to use there in the low tide zone, and was able to pull out an 1887-s seated dime.
After all these years, the low tide zone still produces 1800s coins.

Here’s a photo of the 14k heart pendant, the 1887 seated dime, the 1935 mercury dime, and the silver “A” pendant.

ID = inner diameter (in millimeters)
Procoil auto-sensitivity = 16
Rings air-tested with ring parallel to coil, unless otherwise noted

carat ID grams depth FE-CO max depth description

Here are some before and after cleaning photos.
The pen clip is Waltham.
The bottom row is the front/back before/after cleaning photos of a possible coin. It came in at 12-33 on the E-trac. This was found at a park near the location that produced an 1864 2-cent piece a couple of years ago.

Here’s that old-style pendant that I originally thought was silver.
The item to the right has earring style pin attached to it, but doesn’t look to much like an earring.

Here’s a group photo to show the sizes of some of the items, compared to a 1901 V-nickel.

Here’s a couple of bullets found in the same park.

Nice finds, I have to ask a question that probably sounds like a dumb question to most of you. I have never done any beach detecting, fresh or salt water and was curious if these coins especially the older ones were lost where you dig them or do they for lack of a better word wash up in one way or another where you find them.

Very nice, Digs_lot. Are they salt beach finds?

Super digs, Digs_alot! That Seated dime in particular was in REALLY nice shape, when it was lost...

Usually, storms and strong currents remove overburden sand and sediment off of the not-so-deep buried targets and move them around. Out in a particular area in the low tide zone, mid-to-late 1800s relics and coins periodically wash into this particular area from deeper water, and has produced coins as old as 1859 so far. Coins and relics from this area are usually in pretty good shape.

Some of the old coins and silver jewelry that wash into the rocky areas around the beach get trapped in the rocks in the tidal zones, and over decades of being regularly exposed to air and salt water, can get extremely corroded and worn down.

Small, light-weight gold jewelry with a lot of surface area per volume can also be moved into the rocky areas and get trapped by the rocks. These very low conductive targets are usually overlooked by detectorists.

Only the 1887 seated dime was a salt water beach find.

The other finds were from park land sites.
