Trading in some detectors for the V3i, Ooops
September 21, 2014 10:19PM
Well decided to let go of some of my least used detectors for a V3i.
Call me curious, probably am,... let's go see what the fuss is all about.

CZ-3D can't say I didn't like the machine. Had the volume modulation fixed and even turned it into a beach hunter.
However, someboby else will probably have more use for it.
Goldbug 2,... a detecting microscope,... but ot will probably collect more dust than targets. So it's time for departure.
Goldbug Pro DP,... tried it,... liked the VCO feature very much. Learned about VCO hunting. Applied knowledge to the F75 Ltd during tot lot hunting.

Out with the old, in with the "new" a Whites V3i.
A whole lot of manual to digest, a whole lot of settings to mess up,... we're off on a next adventure.

So what does my arsenal consist of at the moment.
An Excal II 1000 with remote pinpoint and modified phones on a straight shaft. Non mineralized beach hunter.
A CTX 3030 that performs depth wonders at a moderatly mineralized wet salt beach. All Metal and some disc involved.
CTX 3030 again with the small coil for super trashy modern day coins.
F75 Ltd dry sand coin and jewels, park coins and jewels, picked up a few deep middleage coins as well.

Where do I want the V3i to fit in, don't know. Leftovers of bombed out WWII buildings??

But then again,... as stated often around these parts.

"You don't know what you don't know!" Thomas Dankowski

Several people will call me crazy at not getting a Deus. OK I probably am,... but I just love to hate the Deus.
Don't drive French cars either, but love the bread, cheese and wine. Go figure

Wow you are really reaching towards the past...the V3 is not deep was hard to program each area I detected...You can over program it and not know it...I'm sure Whites has a new machine coming out. The color screen does run the battery down a bit. Two freq at the same time was nice but not a game changer on that machine. Had the G2 way better machine and love the At Gold...but the best machine I have had so far is the deus..easy to program easy to see and hear what changes you make and how it effects the machine. Light super light charges really quickly...cost a lot but worth the green. And it's cutting edge in iron and is used in Europe by a lot of hunters that love it...if your a relic hunter you will not find many if any using the V3 if you are a park hunter and you can program it then it's holds it's own but not at deep as the At Gold or the G2 and the Deus...I still think the Deus is also a top hunter at parks and schools

I just purchased a v3i and played with it for a couple of days.

Now I have purchased the XP Deus and have not looked back. The XP Deus is super light and can swing it all day.

Good luck with your purchase.

@ JT

No, the CZ-3D isn't gone yet.
Unit with 3 coils, 10.5" , 8" , 5" coil
Hipmounted on an X- terra 705 shaft.

Well,... maybe just like to figure things out for myself.

As far as reaching for the past,... hmmm,... a lot of Sci-Fi movies around. But we aren't going to the moon on a reliable basis.

Actually,... and don't kill me for saying it. What I found lacking on the Deus is the fine tuneability of Silencer and Reactivity.

Indeed over here in Europe 99% of guys are walking around swinging a Deus. And are very happy with the machine. And what is not to be happy about.
Indeed light, easy swing and no messing about.

Just satisfying my curiousity. The dealer nearly killed me when I bought an F75 Ltd. Guess that's just me :-)

Update on the most gullable person in the detecting world.
Visited the dealer this morning. He gave a nice discount, got 3 very nice units back for it. Minimal wear and tear.

Anyway,... something is in the works with Fisher/Teknetics. Probably always,... but hey,... we're customers.

I handled the V3i and well,... it didn't strike a spark of enthousiasm. Felt like an outdated video game.
Probably a nice detector,... and may try one in the future just for the fun of it.

Anyway he had an SDC 2300 in store.
Guess what.
This evening I'm heading out at low tide to try this waterproof PI unit from minelab. 8" coil doesn't seem at all small in person.

did your dealer have something to say?

You should still try the Deus..I think whites is really going to have some problems till they see the light...I have faith Fisher will come out with something but may be improved not new...Every company goes through follow the leader. For now more are taking a look at the deus and liking what the machine has to offer. Wireless is very cool with changing coils and updates that do make a difference are what the future is all about...The USA has to play catchup once again and it maybe awhile before they come around to seeing that the dirt is changing and masking with iron and trash is the big concern for us to oncover more finds that are just wasting away...

Something about a souped up F75 package for the archeological community.

Enjoy the V3i it is a very good unit.you have to put a fair amount of time on just like any other unit. You will find out that it will pull things out of the iron that will suprise ya. In my soil it is as deep as the f75 and Etrac.
