I like their histograph on the Cortes. Give it a couple of tones: Tie a low tone to 0, tie a high tone to 95, and a VCO tone for everything in between, add a functional ground balance to the Disc side and they'd have a decent coin and jewelry detector.

My thought anyway.

I agree with Mike regarding the Cortez.
Tesoro needs some brain power and engineers that could bring them into the present, until then AKA is light years ahead as are many other European manufacturers
compared to most US detector manufacturers. I don't even think Tesoro can comprehend building anything close to the Berkut, Sorex or Signum.
That's why I own a Berkut and not a Cortez. There's a lot more sub-menu controls not shown in the video to really taylor how the detector works.
I did take a look inside the control box to see the guts. All miniaturized SMT parts, computer processor, a beautiful circuit board of the highest quality.

Heck Tesoro can't even get the non target ID LCD Cazador to market.

Maybe NASA TOM can, should design the next generation dream machine.

give it few more years and you will setup a machine like you want and load it into a control unit ...or maybe your phone and link to the coil....

I see the sky as the limit for whatever you want to do programing wise.....

I believe detector companys will become fewer and fewer as time goes on...

Tesoro seem to be trapped by their packaging ,cant move in any direction .they could emply some Russian engineers on a contract basis to design something more modern .
now if they ,AKA , could do a deus type package with wifi headphones that would be a killer model

AKA control boxes are a little bigger than a Tesoro umax box.
Wireless from what I understand is in the works and the provision is already programmed into the current software.

Heck they haven't even had a good ID unit since the heavy Toltec 100.....Lets face it they sell and make money and are popular to a good many detectorists and why change whats broke might be applicable.
Lets not forget some of their low priced notch units really like gold jewelry especially the small stuff and will many high priced units to shame in this category...

you are right dan. the little compadre, and silver u-max
are terrific in the junk, and they do love small jewelry!
both make great "easement" hunters with small coils attached.
