This ranks as the strangest find ever....for me.

Some type of 'coat of arms' . Eagle/ Lion body parts. Weird man weird!

I just washed it again......hence the shine. It is made of brass. It was bent when I found it. It was 7 or 8 inches down in an old homesite.

Wow, nice find. Family crest maybe.

Thanks guys. I took it to some friend's homes. I just got back. They were dumbfounded like me. I like finding stuff what's got designs on it and what not. The good thing is.....I just hunted a very small patch of this site today. Hope that something military will sound off this week!!!

Which detector were you using??? And how did it sound and ring up??

Thanks guys!!! There is no evidence of a pin in the back. No solder marks, no discoloration, nothing that would indicate that there was a pin. I was looking hard for one. I cannot understand how or where this piece would have been displayed, unless it was affixed to some woodwork or something. Still though, it was a 'first' and will go into a new relics case for display. I appreciate all of the feedback.
