Cavalry hat pin found on old army base

I've been trying to figure out how to post a pics and I finally got it. This was found on a decommissioned army base (decommissioned in the early 1990's) that dates back to the late 1880's. The ground is mostly original. I've found lbs. of bullet casings that unfortunaltely sound great on the T2 and a few barbers, IH's, V's and buffalos and some buttons but this by far is my favorite find. The missing number is a 5 according to an old book I have. It's the 15th cavalry company D. Thanks for reading.

That is very nice find. To me that is what this is all about, digging, preserving, and learning about history. Thanks for posting the photo.

Thanks for your replies. It's a great place to hunt for sure, I just need more hunting time. Should I mention it to my boss? Maybe I'll loan him my spare detector.
