And this here. Makes one wonder.

Be a lot of rubber necking if any lower flying air machines fly over. Lol

I revised my list (above) slightly. I had some 'thunk' time last night...… and realized that it would be important to include the pinpointer.
Now..... the narrative:

I have an old/cheap (but functioning) Bullseye pinpointer. The Bullseye pinpointer can detect a dime to approximately 1"...…. and the F-Pulse can detect a clad dime (on highest setting) to approximately 4"....and with no falsing. When I find a target with a metal detector.... I dig a INITIAL plug. It is exactly at this point..... as to 'how' I rate a pinpointer. . . . . with only the INITIAL hole...dug. What is the success "PERCENTAGE" of finding the target the FIRST time with ONLY the INITIAL hole...dug.

Bullseye = 16%
F-Pulse = 73%

You can clearly see which 'capability' presents the most time-saving factor. Anything that presents below 20%... is a decelerater/inhibitor (inefficient/total waste of time). Anything above 40% starts to show some time-saving attributes. Anything above 70% is a large time-saver and potential target-saver. Since using a 4" capable pinpointer…… I have noticed a 70% reduction in damaged targets. Some folks have commented to me: "How can 4" be considered: "exacting: PINPOINT". This concern/statement would be true if the F-Pulse did not have a increasing-intensity VCO-type of intel presentation..... as you approach the target; which, in turn, gives you DIRECTION and DISTANCE-TO-TARGET (via its audio presentation).

Yes, agreed on the FPulse.

Good thing it has the adjustable freq., otherwise it plays havoc w the EQUINOX!

Somehow I changed it from the factory setting, had to reset it.

Fascinating words, NASA-Tom, regarding the Equinox...

Tom, Fishsr has a FISHER F75 LTD 2 . what's the diff between the LTD and the 2? which is better for relic hunting. thanks

The 75 LTD is the detector model - the LTD2 is that same detector as a package with 2 coils instead of 1 - 11” and 5”

thanks Rick (sorry about the no gold...lol)

Well Tom.... I don't have any experience with the XP-GMP or the Tarsacci but....... I can absolutely back you up with full agreement on the GoldBug 2, Equinox and the F-Pulse pointer.

This is a very interesting thread with a lot of good information. An older thread yes, but this quoted post by Mike Hillis has got to be the best explanation I have ever read of the effects of mineralization on deep targets and of Iron wraparound. His post a little before explaining metal detector ground filters is also excellent.
We don't seem to have the need to understand the why behind our detectors as much as in the past. Reliance on technology is a double edged sword.
NASA Tom, is it time to update your list for us?

Tom since the Manticore and Equinox came out they make your list? What about the CZ-3D it still in your line up at all just curious as some consider it old tech.

Chris............ noteworthy point.......and........ just a reminder: Don't forget the Coin$trike was invented by Dimitar!........the same designer of whom invented the Tarsacci (about 20-years later).

Today (July 29, 2023) I use:

Manticore for all inland hunting.
Manticore for all beach hunting.
A tie between Manticore & Gold Bug-2 for micro-jewelry hunting.
If EMI knocks out the Manticore......... Tarsacci becomes primary. (CZ is now a distant secondary).
If mineralization is 'medium' (or higher)........ only/exclusively: Tarsacci.

F-Pulse remains absolutely mandatory for all inland hunting. Nothing has surpassed this pinpointer.

Is the pro find 40 a close second? I'm just so done with First Texas as a company.

Today I have a simple and effective setup for all conditions. Minelab Manticore and NExus MPV3. Why? Pure analog power and audio versus digital signal processing are the key to hunted-to-death places. Two coils with Nexus and two with Manticore. I can easily adapt to conditions.

The Nexus machines are very interesting. If they weren't so expensive I would like to have one. I wonder how you keep it Ground Balanced efficiently on quick changing difficult sites. GB seems to be critical to performance.
I'm still waiting on the new Versa from Rutus but have been enjoying a new to me MXT Tracker with it's Mixed mode choices. It is a very capable & well thought out unit.

I am not a fan of the F Pulse or TekPulse pinpointers. They false way too much, get "hung up" and require turning off and back OK, etc. The Quest Pro is top of the heap for me. Great battery life, sensitivity, and iron ID that actually works.

Agree with Daniel on that.----F Pulse/Tek Pulse have WAAAAY too much falsing.----TRX all the way for me!

That's the reason I haven't tried one. I have a good hunting buddy that had one. He called it the F-false...

He got rid of it; too much falsing and frustration.
