CZ-5 malfunction?

Tom, the controls on my CZ-5 cannot be manipulated to allow me to hear the threshold sound. Does this mean it is seriously lacking in depth or what? Should I send it to the factory for calibration?

Frank,

The CZ is a silent-search unit. The only time there is a threshold sound.....is when you are in autotune (all metal) mode..........and...........at that...........you MUST have Sens on '10'.....and a high volume setting. If you still can not acquire a threshold ........ test a dime for depth/distance in this 'max settings' configuration........and see to it that the unit will air-test a dime (faintly) beyond 11".

Tom, a discernible signal comes in at about 7 1/2", even at the settings you suggested (using an 8" coil). What do you suggest?

Got a different coil???

.....or............Sounds like a malfunctioning unit. Should have lifetime warranty.

Thanks, Tom-I'll box it up and send it to Fisher/First Texas.
