I see a Minelab GoFind 60 in my near future...

ihey all,
after watching this video(go to 38:30 to see it) [youtu.be]
I think I am going to get one when they are first released. It looks like it would make a great scout machine and one just to keep in my vehicle. The 60 only has a retail of $300 so it should be less at actual street price. It looks nice an compact, is only 2.3lbs, has auto tracking gb and a backlight to boot! It looks to me like its going to be a great inexpensive detector...

My thoughts exactly.
The boots and detecting bag need some company in the back of the car.

I had no interest, till you mentioned one to leave in the truck...dang good idea. Also good loner/kid machine.

It might end up being what the Ace 250 was for Garrett? Really designed for the beginner. But just about all the Pro's had one for a back up, tot lot or loaner machine tossed in the back seat. I read where the GO-FIND machines were for an impulse purchase even at gas stations. So will ML loosen up dealer yearly sales quotas so convenience stores will be able to carry them? Plus I'm not convinced that a $250 purchase is an impulse purchase? I'm not sure a $99.00 Bounty Hunter would be that type of purchase either? "Hey Dad - Can I have a bag of Corn Nuts, Soda Pop and this here ML metal finder?" Sure Son. I'm not Dogging it. I want to try one too.......

First let me tell you I am not a big minelab fan, (great detectors, just not quite what I was looking for) but I watched the video and this new model is interesting. Some of the things I like so far-

A decent price
collapsible
light weight (finally)
concentric coil (big plus!)
Single frequency
Great build quality (I hope)
Auto tracking GB
small package~great for backpacking.
Handy backup machine

The only question I have right now is what frequency does it use?

If it is an x-terra with faster response 2aa batts then it very well may be the backup of choice - depth and ability to deal with iron will be important to know. - trying to get my sister interested this may be the ticket

Concentric coil that works in wet sand. Strange looking coil for sure.

This thing looks pretty sweet.

They say it is based on VFlex - So I wonder will it have coil options that change freq like X-terra or is it forever and always 7.8khz Because of the target market I assume it will be forever and always 7.8khz. So it always be aimed at coins and some relics

Apart from the apps stuff, touch screen, etc, the first thing that I'm interested in is to know how the "square concentric " coil will work in the field, and especially on nail-infested sites.

In theory, I suppose the design of these coils (actually two : 8 & 10 ") will allow more depth c/w round concentrics of equivalent diameter (the "inner coil" is larger), and make overlapping quite a bite more effective.

I am very impressed, and can't wait the specs to be available on the Minelab site, because another point that I want to know is how the applications work. Turning your smartphone into a remote device "a la DEUS" sounds very interseting.

Good move, Minelab...I will surely end with one of these as soon as they're available.
