MXT Pro - First Hunt Scores an Indian Head Cent

Ok took the same park - same area I took the T2SE2 yesterday. This park is by a lake so I decided to work this little small out cropt near the water. I had my 6x8 SEF coil on - tried a couple options but ended up running in coins with tones on. Had sensitivity at preset and threshold loud enough I could hear it with no head phones. Discrimination was on first triangle. No real noise or any issues with EMI. First target read about 75 read 1 cent or Dime and was about 1 inch - sounded pretty smooth - but it was a pop top from a beer bottle. Next target read more like 70 to 75 jumped a bit but sounded smooth again and pinpointed a 3 inches. I dug down about 3 inches stuck the Pro Pointer in the whole and got a hit. It was dark mud and at first I was have a hard time finding - finally - I saw something round - at first glance I though I had a wheat cent, but when I flipped it over and saw that Indian head I was very excited. I have never dug an Indian Head so it was my first. It is somewhere between fine and good I am guessing grade wise. Date is 1906. The rest of my hunt produced nothing but Beer Poptops and lots of them. I need to start ingnoring any 70-75 reading pinpoint an inch or less. I will try and see if the video came out - the sun was bright I think I got pasue and record backwards so when I thught I was recording I was actually paused.

T2 yesterday likes screwcaps - MXT likes bottlecaps. Go figure.

Thanks - found silver before - not much but some - but this is my oldest find yet. And only 3 inches deep. So the adage is there is a lot out there that has never had a coil over it before I think is true. I have never seen anyone hunt this park - sure there are some but It is on the edge of an iffy area of town. I think it scares a lot of people away. It really is not a bad park - I have never had any issues.

Ain't them caps a B? Nice score on the Indian. Congrats on a first.

Discrimination is the root of all evil.

I goofed - I was pausing when I thoght I was filming and vice a versa so nothing. I may have a couple of seconds where I discover it is a indian head in my hand and I put it back where it came out of the whole to film it. May put that up but that's about it. I was carrying a shovel today. Kind needed a third hand.

Hi Lip how's it going if anyone would know you would know there where more or not. I was surprised because it was so shallow. Boy oh boy is there a ton of bottle and screw caps. I think I was starting to figure them out on T2 screw caps but on MXT just need to ignore shallow targets in mid 70s with mid to high tone they are almost 100% bottle caps. They are probably still bottle caps three inches down but at least they could be something else.

When you suspect a cap raise your coil up while sweeping. If you numbers go more than 10 its most likely a cap. If the numbers drop say 20 then its a cap. Coins will keep the numbers pretty steady when you raise you coil.
