Congrats on your ability to make a living at this...... id be on food stamps. I personally didnt mean to be rude and appreciate up dateds on new machines. I guess I understand the necessity of credential. ....as well as not telling us about the 20% you had in your pocket until leaving because it might sound like a sales pitch vs a heads up on a new machine.

Wow buddy, a little thin skinned. Your wording is what a few razzed ya about. Like the Oz man said, good luck on ANY forum, this one is probably the kindest out there.

I'm not sure if Kansas Digger realized who all does post here on the forum. A good number of us have been prototype testers for various detector companies and have worked on R&D elements for various companies as well. Then there are the heavy hitters that post here....NASA Tom himself, Dave Johnson stops by from time to time, Carl Moreland sticks his head in every now and then. And I think Mike Scott has posted a few times here too.

I think he might have been trying to be helpful but moreso, I think he thought he was gonna be the big fish in the pond here, and that's just not the case.

The good thing about this site is its not all broken up into categories. Its all about detecting with a broad audience with different skills all in one forum. We get to hear from the experts in dirt, beach and relic hunting. We get up dates on new stuff coming and reviews. Everyone gains valuable info on detecting as a whole and whats out there even if its not your thing. you are missing out if you leave...... I think even the experts get food for thought.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of those other forums don't have "Dime Hunter" or "Quarter Hunter" forums.

Dear OP. Might be a good detector, I've always wanted to try an omega. But man i had Garrett gta1000, it never broke, have an Etrac it's a fantastic detector no problems. The only detectors I've had problems with are ftp. I've had a cz3d where the gb failed, they did replace it but it air tested only 8" . I had to buy a Los Banos 1021 model later. Just bought a new fisher f75ltd2 with dst. From the get go the control housing moved a bit when connecting the coil. And it has on only gotten worse. Going to have to send it in before I sell it. I'd love to try of your freebies though, maybe it might change my mind about buying another ftp product. Sorry I'm babbling. ..So you got any pics of your finds to post ?

they just cant get to grips with wifi phones like the WS5s ,who wants to be shackled to a machine nowadays, i dont its a major hindrance
Re: hot smiley Omega 8500

I doubt it's because they "can't get to grips with it", it's something that they are more likely to build into a new product, rather than add to an existing product.
Adding a simple FM link, such as XP used in their ADX250/Adventis/GMP/GMAXX is quite easy, it really is a seperate circuit that just needs a supply of power, and the audio signal to function.
But 2.4GHz digital links are more complex, and require integrating into the detector more. The detectors' micro-controller needs to control and communicate with the radio circuitry. So if you plan this out from the start of the design process it's not so hard, but tacking it on to an existing design can be trouble.
There's also the need for official FCC / CE etc approval for the radio transmitter, which adds cost and usually project delays as well.
Another possible issue is the power consumption one. Though 2.4GHz links are low power, this family of detectors are powered from a single PP3, so 'frugal' design is a necessity.
It's a shame, as it's clearly a good machine, and some extra features like cordless 'phones would suit it.

So testing a detector for a manufacturer and writing some detecting articles is all it takes to be a Pro Detectorist? Hot diggity dog...I am a pro....now I want a raise!

You guys are a tough crowd! Back on topic I may get one and slap a 13" ultimate on it. Most of my spots all the stuff is deep. I've found a few 10" mines w/the racer and stock coil, but that's pushing it to the brink at least based on audio. I know I keep saying it but I'd really like something between the 7x11 and big coils.

had a similar occurance with a "standard" f-75 back in '08
contacted fisher, said it was normal for control housing to be a
little loose so there would be "stress" relief where it connects to the shaft!
not sure about this as it sounded like a "crap" storm, but let it go. tightened myself but just continued to loosen over time!.
it was a concern for a while but never got any worse,so again, let it go! believe to this day, fisher really did not want to address it,
as they surmised it was insignificant...kinda difficult to believe,as the cost certainly was not insignificant. i'm just sayin'

these models do have top discrim better than the dues but i wont be parted from my WS5s as cant go back to dangling headphone cables .wifi phones would boost their sales by a long margin.
one reason why XP grabbed market share in the UK and left US brands in the dust

I wouldn't be surprised to see NELs for them soon. Very similar to FTP coils.

From a consumer point of view the hush hush on the 8500 is more than a little bizarre since they have an ad in the August WE Treasures. Poor timing on the marketing side if nothing else.
