Been bottle hunting and collecting since 76 ...yes I got hooked on Glass from my Aunt....I was the only kid with a treehouse full of dug bottles..LOL!!!

Glass lead to treasure thoughts.. that lead to My older brother telling me there was a such thing as a metal detector and I found one in the Sears catalog and the Relco Mustang was waitng on me Chrstmas morning!!!

I'm 44 for a couple more months. I started metal detecting when I was around 8. I didn't get serious about it til I was 28. I would go with my Dad to a fair grounds that he shoe'd horses at. At lunch time the help would go out & detect. I'd tag along & help kind of. They found lots of coins. The silver caught my eye. I went out at that spot when I got serious about the hobby & that place put lots of old coins in my collection.

Haha no worries, I'm a guy. I been lurking around here for a couple years. Just never had much to contribute so I never registered.

You are right, there is a lot of great info and folks here. Thanks to everybody for all the info I've picked up here. This is THE forum to go to when I look for actual facts about machines, performance, comparisons, etc.

55. Been detecting since 1987. Coin and relics until the last three years when I got serious about water detecting. When I retire I plan on doing a little nugget hunting as well. A man has to have a plan. Best hobby in the world at any age.

I'm 52. Been Detectin' about 16 years. I actually saved all summer to get a Detector when I was 12 yaers old as saw one in a Coin Magazine as collected coins at the time. Anyway's all I could afford was the cheapest one which I believe was a Detectron Gremlin ? It was Yellow had one knob. Took it out a couple of times found one Memorial penny on top of the ground. Put it in the closet and sold a couple years later,But read the Treasure Mags and vowed to get another when I could afford a good one which came ''many years '' later. LOL!

Just turned 60 and have been detecting since I was 14. I still run, lift, and do MMA, but I don't feel the same after a workout as I did when I was 20. Gotta keep at it 'cause the Grim Reaper is undefeated.
