mine too. so much that I placed my preorder on a new racer 2 tonight..probably the smarter thing to do since I have the racer with oor and 10" coils anyhow..

The video upset a lot of people from what I saw. he basically says Here is a standard detector(The deus) and goes over a nickel then a pile of nails next to another nickel and the deus couldnt unmask the nickel(Im not a deus fan, but the deus wasnt set up at all IMO). He then does it with the atpro calling it(in my own terms) a better detector and the atpro sometimes gets the nickel. Then the Mx Sport, which of course shows it getting the nickel by manipulating the iron volume.

At first, the information on the mx sport made me steer toward the it. I had one on order but the "mxt vs mx vs mx sport" video came out, and that soured me, but the "straw" was this video. It was so lop sided, unprofessionally done, AND so unbelievably trying to manipulate the viewer, that it turned me right off of it.

It is unfortunate that there has to be such a cloak and dagger approach to these detector unveils. It is definitely the wrong way to try to create an interest in a new product, imo. I did not have the opportunity to view the video either, but judging from other forum member's remarks, it was not a fair comparison. I realize that it is an understatement to say that we are an extremely picky bunch of (informed) deectorists to be appeased, but let us decide how well the detector does. Give us the facts/specs., shoot even comparing to your own previous models is ok, but let an independent tester try with other models, it just invites suspicion. Whites retains a soft spot for me, but I think they could take a lesson or two from the folks over in Turkey. Simply present a quality product without bashing competition (again, we do that well enough on our own), LISTEN to customer input, and CHANGE it accordingly. The MX Sport looks like a decent water detector for the money, but the sales gimmicks are quickly turning me away.

Lot's of companies show their products in a better light. Kind of like Chevy vs Ford or Wendy's vs McDonald's commercials. It won't be long before we see for ourselves? I think Whites products are solid. Maybe the marketing isn't.....

I didnt want to renew sponsorship and they disabled my account and changed my signature to sound like I wasnt paying a bill or something. Pretty shady considering I was an actual contributing member. SMH

The forum owner regularly shows us his views and general personality on the "views" forum.

Anyone can draw their own conclusions.

I will give any manufacturer a fair shot.

And at the same time I will give them constructive criticism.

Any manufacturer should welcome constructive criticism.

Here is the strange part.

So far this is what I have seen in a nutshell.

Defensive post concerning discussions of warranty.

A detector video where the detector was thrown in the water.

A video talking about price with a knucklehead doing push-ups.

A very short video-- that suggest a certain detector does something a At Pro or Deus won't.

Where are the videos where the detector is actually being used in a both fresh water and a salt water environment???

Florida has had some exceptionally warm weather as of late

At best this is pathetic marketing.

Just go and do some videos--- very easy, we don't bite hear

Why is that just because they may have misrepresented the MX SPORT has nothing to do with the Performance of the Detector. I like the fact they had the balls to put a Detector up against one that cost double. I agree with khouse as everybody can't wait to bash Whites.

What test are you referring.

Talk is cheap.

Show me some real test with settings talked about-- after that then we can discuss---not until.

And I do believe their marketing is off the mark--- and it is true the detectror may indeed be a good one.

But we will have to wait and see.

I do know if I were going to brag as a rep of the company concerning MX sport and Deus---- do the unbiased test, video and post,,,,simple as that.

I never said the mx sport wouldnt be a great performer. I was referring to, what I can only call, "shady" videos that show unrealistic testing, and gives unrealistic expectations, there by, imo false advertising. I like the Mx Sport, but when a company has videos like that, it gives me pause. I have nothing against the Mx Sport, its the marketing that bugs me.

We as a group are pretty serious about our equipment no matter what it costs. It looks to me Whites has some new young blood hired. With that comes a whole different twist on a lot of things. I just hate how the Diggers show portrays us as tree climbing stumbling idiots. This doesn't take away the fact that the Atpro is a solid performer in the field. It will all shake out in the coming weeks.

Look ...whites is bashing whites with these kids videos. Im a whites fan but... Something has changed with them and not in a good way... They spend money on these videos that they are putting out.. For me these vidoes are garbage.. Just tell us what you have, price, when avail etc.. I dont understand the games.. I know they read forums and see what we say yet they keep doing what they do... They must have billions saved back... After watching these videos i have now placed my order....for a makro racer 2... Even whites knows they made a lame video comparing detectors as they removed it quickly... For whatever reason its a huge turn off... You ever watch infomercials on tv and you know they item they try to sell is not going to work that well and the people trying to sell you the item dont seem to know how to work it? Well thats what these videos look like to me..

I agree 100%!!! Winner winner chicken dinner!! Nearly every video and nearly every review of a detector that is made, is made to be marketing aid for said detectors and companies. Do you think these companies don't know what they are doing by finding trusted forum members and sending them freebie units to test and promote? They know people will listen and then buy...based off of reputation alone. Especially the ones that are what I would consider Pro status. Each genre of detecting has its Pro people...just guys/gals that are exceptional at what they do. For example, in gold prospecting, Minelab has Jonathan Porter, the Allison fellas, and Steve H as heavy weight Pros that know their stuff and get the job done. Whites has had their share of prospectors too...most famous is probably Jimmy Sierra. Each one of the genre's of detecting will have a "face" that people can look to and associate/relate with.

When it comes to relics and unmasking...Keith S. comes to mind right off the bat. For just relic hunting go getters...you can't look past people like the Aquachigger aka Beau O. Brent Arnold is another that comes to mind...along with Pete Eles, his friend Dennis...and that whole lowcountry gang. Up in Virginia you have another big batch of hunters...who count their belt plates by the hundreds....people like Big Bobby B, John Kendrick, Johnny Craig, etc. Legends.

Then you have coins....then beach hunting, jewelry...each one of these genre's has people that makeup the face of that genre.

Manufacturers know these people and wisely choose some of them to be Pro Staff people (if I can borrow that term) for marketing purposes.

Whites knows the power of videos and social media...what they attempted to do was something that a lot of companies are doing these days (companies outside of detecting). I think they did bite off more than they could chew but you gotta admit the videos did get people talking. I do agree with what Harold stated though...if you let a little propaganda video get you all butthurt, then you weren't seriously going to buy one anyway. I am going to buy one....just cause I think it is going to be a decent machine and it has a lot of options I think I will like.

So you all can buy the Racer 2. I will get the MX Sport. Here is what will probably happen with me looking into my crystal ball. When we each get our chosen machines, we will do some testing. Then post about it on the forum about what we found and how much we like it. Then after a week or two we'll probably grow quiet about it and then next thing you know, we'll have it listed on the classifieds with some excuse as to why we want to part with it....aka "spring/summer is here and all my sites are grown up and I can't hunt until the fall/winter".

Maybe if some of the pro staffers would speak up-- this so- called lame marketing would stop.

Whites was thinking some hunters are just plain stupid and they should know better than that. The person on the video is a whites employee and he should know better and whites should know better. They should have never done that video. It shows that made in the US doesn't mean they play fair the the US

I have reservations on the MXS because of : Treasure Pro, Go-Pro, new F-series

Lots of hype, no performance. Don't get me wrong I'd love to try a MXS but will hold off on purchase until some trusted sources play with one.

I think some folks claim Minelab misleads their customers on the 28FREQ???? Yet we all own or have used them.
Not saying i agree with the lame vids I think Whites as a company should stay above all that crap.
