G2/F19 platform is such a sweetheart to use. I gifted a G2 to my 10 yr old neice and have found a novice can quickly take to the simple, zippy audio. She sets the disc on 40, turns the sensitivity up and can more than hold her own. The memory of her dropping a trime in my hand is one of my most cherished detecting memories.

What detector do you feel is the best at communicating the size of iron when water hunting? Obviously theres a learning curve with all machines, but some just seem to talk to the ear a bit more.

Depth meters are only as good as the user's ability to "size" a target based off the audio and coil manipulation in my experience. Im no engineer, but displays aside there doesnt seem to be much more that can be done with them on VLFs.
I just want to see someone advance no motion modes further for general use. A V3I locked in PinPoint mode while keeping an eye on the different

Time will tell. But of the 4 models of theirs Ive owned every one of them has zero depth in target rich enviroments. The FBS/Nox eat their lunch and pop the bag in that regard. None of them could roll off a nail and hit an 7-8"+ dime. I think ppl read keiths stuff about the nokta/makros and didnt catch he was mainly reffering to small, shallow targets in heavy iron. The minelabs also are sti

Trigger PP is a GREAT suggestion. It's just so efficient, especially the old whites approach of pushing it forward and locking it in like a non motion all metal one way, and pulling back & quickly pinpointing on the fly without looking (I have to look & the nox)...It also really helps avoid scratching the face/screen of the unit w/crusty digging hands.
Not sure if it's been

One thing I've noticed on my nox is iron ID changes a bit from mode to mode. We hunt a riverside cliff where the confederates where heavily pounded by Yankee artillery from across the water. My preferred mode is Park 1 95% of the time everywhere... However my hunting partner and I have found park 2 actually gives the desired larger fragments a higher tone in this scenario, which stops us in

This has "kindve" been around for some time, but a true no motion all metal mode intended for actual hunting- that doesnt drift outve tune is something I've often wanted. Perhaps this could be expanded on as another tool for the arsenal.
The V3i pulled some incredibly DEEP targets for me hunting in pinpoint mode with the machine locked on a pounded site that disc wouldn't

The only thing I can think of is I dont think theres a machine currently produced that can roll off of shallower, collocated targets and instantly slam deep, mid-high conductive targets quite like an explorer w/a SEF coil.
I have a few civil war sites littered w/small .22 caliber sized blobs of camp lead and or foil. Very target rich spots, but not much iron bigger than small nails....My expl

One of the connectors that plug into the board on mine broke. And I now have a handful of wires that I'm going to slip into a new connector. Problem is I cant tell which goes where (they're different colors).... I've looked online and found a set of pictures that are close, but unfortunately dont show exactly what I need to see. One would just have to back out a few Phillips head

Picked one up for my 7yr old and have been blown away by how effective it is in old house sites full of nails. Ended up buying one for the wife/me also.....Honestly it just massages collocated targets like buttons out of iron so well and stops me in my tracks better than other units. Its remarkably sure of its self. The last time I was out with one I recall telling my buddy "I'd rathe

Not alot to add Tom, but Fwiw in Field mode I was able to hit my 8" copper penny prior to the update- but not my 10". Still cant get anything that would stop me to investigate under normal conditions on the 10", but on Max sensitivity, maybe theres a bit more "oomph" on the 8" now? While post update the machine is overall just a bit more, well, wonky. You have to ext

Does anyone know if whites ever got this resolved? Im not talking about the pinpoint bug; Im reffering to the problem of hitting a target with one tone, then the unit responds on the next target (which may be a higher tone) w/the same or a blended tone.
I picked one up for practically nothing, and really like it as loaner for the wife/family...However its started up over the weekend w/this to

My 7yr olds been getting more into detecting w/me as Im starting back into it. Picked up an original G2 as a lightweight/simple detector for him to beat around with, and I have to say- as many may already know this.... but what a little gem of a detector! Smooth, sure of itself w/stable ID, deeper than I expected for a quiet 19khz unit, minimal (audible) EMI in an area every detector Ive used has

Its a good machine for the money. Ive yet to see anything close to this depth thats being mentioned in the dirt though. Like alot of machines, in looser/open dirt it'll get down there deeper; but a guy'd have to have a razor sharp ear to pick out a dime any deeper than 5" on turf- at least with the one I have... Prior to the coil dying anyway. After buying 3 machines from this comp

No..Not really. The new First Net (1st responders net work) ATT is building w/many of the 5G builds COULD have some wonky stuff we encounter depending on how it's used. They're supposedly wanting to do things ultimately like deploy drones & such to accidents in some areas.
There are 5G sites launched all over the country right now. Many have been for a while. It's somewhat o

Looks great! Combined w/the Pro Coil I bet the old dog will be hard to leave at home. I always wanted to get one for my Exp 2's, ran one for a bit and while I loved my SEFs, that coil shocked me how much it helped ergonomically.
Any details on the chest mount plans?

Yes, its an end of a 3 piece design...Theyre reffered to as blockade buckles. Imported from Europe and they often turn up with South Carolina relics.

He left the forum because of you and MXT guys nonstop crap and drama. He tried to discuss the MXSport here, but youre exhausting paragraph after paragraph of nonsense here and probably 5 other forums grew old.
This forum lost out on a ton of experience and info and you were the one stirring the pot..

Great digs and info to go along with it! Outta be a trime in that site. This is the forum at its best IMO, talking detectors and what they can do in the field....not 100s of posts arm chair quarterbacking marketing departments.

Look forward to hearing more. D2 with a good modulation is all I need.
Do have some concerns about that screen and housing in the rocky waters and beaches I hunt. The square pod probably creates a lot of drag and takes a great deal of stress in current. Some of the plastics used on these machines in the past seemed a little brittle. The hole the shaft inserts into broke on mine.

As said above its a great jewelry unit. I found a ton with mine. Whites VDI is perfect for that type of hunting- after a while I began to notice a trend of seeing items in the "no mans land" between certain common VDI's, (say 17 or so) but would have stable ID. On shallow targets these were often gold. Jumpier IDs on shallower targets were often predictably trash.
I will say th

A lot of people dont wear gold like they used to. Guys especially. I remember growing up alot of my redneck buddies wore gold necklaces, I had one myself. Jewelry isnt as popular with african americans either. Maybe the recession made people realise how wasteful it is. Who knows. Now I will say I had some good luck on the soccer fields if that makes sense.

The best thing about the trx is the quick press ratcheting. The ability to pick up a coin at 4" out the the tip to within a frogs hair of the target is something folks just dont seem to appreciate as much as they should in my opinion. If youre strictly a coin shooter and need precision in the hole with valuable coins or want to leave as small a recovery foot print as possible, its a great a
