I’m not sure if it can ever be fully mastered Steve, but you can no doubt increase your success rate dramatically.
Tom said it best. “This takes Practice “
I still dig a few nails each hunt. The difference now days is that I know that I’m probably digging a nail.
Most nail falsing I can now confidently analyze and pass, but some I can only put odds on and will still dig knowing

A lot of this audio stuff is hard to put into words. I run my detector hot and noisy. ( probably too noisy)
Most of my dig decisions are audio based and what ever was changed in this update worked well for me
and made the hunt easier and more pleasant for sure.

There are some different tonal nuances with this update for sure. Especially with iron.
Coins sounded the same but seemed to run tighter then normal ID wise.
Too short of a hunt to see if this is new or just a coincidence.
My small pistol brass I dug today was not hollow sounding like you mentioned but the only rusty crown cap
I did dig was very hollow sounding. It really caught my attenti

I went on a short Park hunt today trying out the new firmware update..
No back to back settings checking.. Just hunted as usual..
Started in FE-2-2 since I am used to running FE 0.
Plan was to stay there for the first hunt but after a couple minutes I dropped down to FE-2-0 because the Nox was running so well.
Is it just my imagination or has the falsing been improved even running in negat

I would love to but am guessing I don’t live anywhere near you, assuming your in California??
Deep Turf hunting for old coins in parks is what I do. If I felt the CTX or E-Trac did this better then my Equinox, I would have kept them.
I have put LOT of hours on both and have done very well with them.
There is no doubt the FBS detectors are easier to run in a park, but it’s my opinion that the

I had nail falsing problems with all my FBS detectors. The Equinox might be slightly worse but not by much.
The one good thing about the Equinox is that you don’t really get “whispers” as you call them.
Very Deep coins have great audio to full depth unlike the CTX and E-Trac.

I just downloaded and did a quick test using F2-4 that Tom had mentioned for FE 0 users.
I haven’t really had a big problem with rusty caps but do occasionally find some that ring up nicely..
Using one that I found on my last hunt that rang up a solid 12 now comes up all iron tones with an occasional broken mid tone with the new settings.
The update is definitely doing something different.. Ho

If you adjust the volume for the first Tone Range extremely low it should be easier on the ear.
The lowest numbers are ground noise for the most part.. Make sure you stay on top of your ground balance.

Tom... Would like to hear more of your insight about Recovery Speed..
I run my detector almost exactly as you explain except I rarely go below RS 4 and mostly hang out at 5.
You mention 2-3 which I have never Ventured down to for any amount of time.
What about swing speeds at these really low settings?
Sounds like I might need to push my sensitivity too.. I have been running 20-22..

I have used Iron Bias 0 since day one with great success..
I think using 50 tones is also an important factor if using 0 Iron Bias to help identify
the increased iron falsing that comes with it.. Sometimes I think the Equinox Audio is a little under rated.
I have really learned to appreciate how good it is after all the hours I now have on this detector.

The E-Trac and CTX were better at Nickels then most people gave them credit for, but nothing has nailed deep Old Nickels like my Equinox..
I have owned all the Nickel slayers mentioned above but none of them could hit a 10” Nickel in my soil like the Equinox.
FBS was good to about 8” on average for Nickels with the big coils.
Nickel ID accuracy to full depth is better on my Nox too. FBS Nicke

I can’t imagine having locations that could produce a $1000.00 a year in clad.
Especially year after year.
My parks are so pounded the only way you would come home with anywhere near a couple bucks
is if you accidentally come across a fresh quarter spill.
Somehow there are plenty of zinc cents though.

This article pertains to diabetes but also holds true for blood pressure, cancer, etc.
I’ve been studying this stuff for 20 years. You will not find a better source then Dr. Mirkin on healthy diet and fitness.
I have seen the mainstream just now starting to talk about what he has been writing for the last 10 years or more.

Keto is just a short term gimmick diet.
Not good for you long term.
Just drop all the processed and fried foods and eat Whole Foods.
Whole grains, beans, seeds, nuts fruits and vegetables.
Limit meat as much as possible accept maybe some fish.
You won’t have to count calories or starve.
It’s the added sugars, flour and bad oils that are killing us.

I would say it depends on your ground.
The CZ can’t compete with the E-Trac where I live for deep coins.
Not even close.
My experience is with the CZ 5s so I’m doing a little assuming that the D3 performs similar.
Assuming is usually dangerous.

I believe so.
It has the same ED-180 discrimination and frequency which make the Compadre popular.
With the ability to swap coils, adjust sensitivity and have slightly more ground control, it might be worth the upgrade
if you like your Compadre.

Brand loyalty is out there for sure.
My hunting partner has it bad with Whites Detectors, and has an anti Minelab bias to go along with his Whites loyalty.
He’s starting to crack though. We used to be pretty even in our old coin finds when I was running the CTX/E-Trac,
and he his V3i.
Ever since I got the Equinox, and especially the big coil for it, I have been trouncing him hunt after hu

Mike I know your asking about the 24k but I just thought I would mention the Makro Gold Racer for micro jewelry hunting.
I had one for a while and it always amazed me all the tiny little trinkets and such I would find with that thing.
Even with the big 15” coil. It was a great Detector and it did surprisingly well hunting for Old coins too, considering the high frequency it runs at.

I am not expecting PI performance but am curious if it has more depth then a multi frequency VLF
such as the Equinox in moderately mineralized dirt.
