I've had my Eqx 600 over a year now, so I've had time to form some opinions on what could be changed and improved, plus some thoughts on what could be incorporated into the new 'high end' machine.
Starting with the hardware/mechanicals:
* The elbow cup/rear stand has shown itself to be weak. There's several reports of a broken upper section, it just needs to be made c

Mike: you shouldn't need to make 'Global' changes. Browsers allow the option of having unique settings for unique websites. Have you ever found a website blocked because your browser thinks the "Security Certificate is out of date" ? And you had the options 'accept this site' , 'accept this site just this one time' ? Well it's the same thing with

I suspect you're having the same issue many others have had. Your web browser is being overly security-conscious, and is not loading the insecure bits of the page ( those from a http address, rather than https ). This includes the css style sheets, which determine the page appearance, the Kitco gold charts at the bottom of the page, and affects the search button and others.

Agreed, Geotech1 is the ideal starting point. And obtain a known working search-coil , concentrate your thoughts on the electronics / packaging. Only then maybe consider the masochistic process of making a coil to match your fully-working detector.
A parts supplier worth mentioning is 'SilverDog' in the UK, who now trades as 'DIY-Detector':

There's an electronics board inside the coil, with a pre-amplifier on it. There could be an electronics fault, perhaps causing too much power draw. And there are more wires in the coil cable than usual, so cable-related faults are likely -- broken wires, shorted wires.

I speculated early on that it may work down below 5kHz, perhaps even 3 or 4kHz. That would open up the possibility of a "Low Band Multi-IQ" , which should/could be better on the higher-conductor milled silver/copper coins you US guys like hunting. So instead of the 'standard' freqs of 7.8k / 18.2k / 39k, run it at: 3.9k / 9.1k / 19.5k, or: 4.5k / 10.5k / 22.5k ( same ratios,

It's good that people think that gold is heading to 3000 US Dollars, because it makes it easy to sell the metal at current prices, or even up to 2000 Dollars.
The stock market may well suffer another virus-related fall in the coming 6 months, and that fall may well cause a modest increase in the gold price. That would be a price movement to watch for.

The 'loan instructions' would need to state it must remain as-supplied ... knowing the enthusiasts on here, it would end up being returned with a longer carbon shaft, cordless headphones, bigger external battery, counter-balance weights, bits cut off the coil, new armcup, probably more.

TNSS quote:"I like the battery the Tarsacci uses. I wonder how many of these it would take to give the AQ platform 5 hours of run time?"
The T uses a single 26650 cylindrical cell ( like the Eqx ), with a capacity of 5000 mAh. Three of these in series would be appropriate to provide the 12 Volts nominal the AQ requires. I estimate the current draw of the AQ to be 500 mA, so this (3 x 2

That picture works for me..... except the aspect ratio is messed up, it's too narrow. If I right-click 'view image' , it shows up OK, though.

Yes, that security message when posting is another 'artefact' of this modern browser behaviour. I think the 'search' box near the top of the page also throws up the same warning. And the gold price charts from Kitco don't load either, as they are 'insecure'. You just need to work out how to allow loading of insecure content on a secure page, then either allow it

The odd screen layout sounds familiar. Is it really basic, plain text fonts, no background speckle-pattern ? If so, that's down to your browser being hyper-cautious about security, and it's not loading the .css cascading style sheet files, which define the page 'prettyness'. Try getting it to allow 'insecure content' , and you may be on the way to normality.

Quote:"I was wondering if the extra two frequencies in Multi mode that the 800 offers ....."
Multi mode is identical for both machines. Hence the performance is identical, just the choices of audio tone-breaks etc etc are lacking on the 600.

It detects banknotes as well as coins ?
It doesn't need any pointless 'swinging', it just tells you where the target is, and you move the coil until it's above it?

You're probably one-third the way through, similar to how we are in the UK. If lockdowns etc continued 'forever', you would probably be halfway ( the peak of the death-rate curve ) , but obviously some slackening of restrictions will be allowed, allowing the virus to spread more easily, thus 'fattening' the right-hand side of the curve.
We've got a death total about

"Just an observation - the countries (cities) with the highest death tolls are the ones populated the most with 5G - is there a connection?"
Of course. Cellphone operators want the traffic of paying customers, so they install the latest cellphone tech in areas of high population density. And densely-populated areas are ideal conditions for the spread of contagious diseases.

I said:"The public don't want mass graves, communal cremations or other 'war scenario' outcomes."
... but even with lockdown/social distancing/better hygiene/facemasks etc, to slow the spread, the death rate is still high enough that mass burials ARE taking place in NY:

I would suggest that after the 'virus crisis' will come the 'economic crisis' . So it's perhaps wiser to think what you will do to prepare for the latter, rather than contemplate what went badly during the former.

My hunch is the 'intelligent' aspect of the EQX involves analysing the target in three, maybe two ( or 4 in beach mode), different ways simultaneously, and applying some 'best response wins' decision-making as to what the 'ID verdict' is. Choosing between, say, Park1 and Park2 chooses your preferred dominant frequency bias, but it's still always checking in mult

A Little Bump:
Those Geotech1 hopefuls are not just wanting detectors for finding "10 metres deep golden treasures". There's a new thread there, a guy wanting a pinpointer that finds objects 50cm ( 20 inches ) deep. Honestly. And when jokingly asked "only 50cm ?", he replied '"Yes, I don't need it to go 2 metres deep, just 50cm". He did add the obje

The other reason for spreading it out is ...
* to allow time for temporary emergency hospitals to be built
* to allow time for essential equipment to be manufactured/purchased
* to organise refrigerated mortuary facilities, so that cremations/burials can be done in a dignified manner. The public don't want mass graves, communal cremations or other 'war scenario' outcomes.

Cal_C definitely has his timeframes way out.
If we did NOTHING, it may be all over in two months ... much like your typical 'flu season'.
Because governments are trying to slow the spread down, so the healthcare system can vaguely cope, the rise in cases will go on MUCH LONGER, and the drop down in number of cases to a tolerable level will go on MUCH LONGER.

If they're giving you 'helicopter money', it's probably for a reason, and you should spend it wisely, as this virus business is likely to leave you out of pocket by more than 1000 dollars.
