Been 'Buyin & Tryin' teccies since 1977: always had to wait for 'the next magazine' to show "What's New?"
Read the blurb, believe it, buy it, be disappointed in it, sell it and then consult the magazine again!

I had a fabulous D cell Mag Lite stowed under the drivers seat in the car.
One day after a wet damp winter, I opened it and the Duracell batteries looked fine and the lite turned on.
About 2 weeks later I needed it and it didn't turn on. So I opened it and found the batteries had burst leaked and ruined it!
I was bummed as it was a "Sam's Club" buy and I'm no longer a

"Congratulations to All @ NOKMAK - it is well deserved.
Yes, it probably does suggest research grants from the Government which means they will have extra resources to put back into even more R & D which, bodes well for everyone?"

Do you have a SILVER coin to Air Test with?
I don't suspect a fault as silver is a great signal maker. A possible problem might be your sites. Are they worked out? Are they trashy? Do you have DISC on High?
Many's the day I came home without silver - just clad - you won't find silver all the time.

During my prototyping testing done on all the FBS systems, I often noted that many signals on lead shot and other lead items were 'funky' in the way they sounded off as if the receive signals were somehow being 'corrupted ever so slightly' as if the eddy currents created were 'falling off' the round circumference of the items? The see tee ex was very good at this! It

As always FANTASTIC communication by the Manufacturer, in this instance, to dispel rumor.
I've never seen such [ interaction ] between end user and maker!
White's jumped on the wagon this year but other makers aren't so vocal. During the early years I wasn't allowed interact on fora when it was clear that many end users really did want 'someone' to chime in on a

My Florida beaches were nearly always moonlight light lit...no lights needed.

Probably a wise decision!
They were difficult enough to figure out when they were in Production.
Finicky to use, awkward to handle, prone to cable failures especially on entry into the control box power socket.
But, driven carefully, they could detect quarters up to 14" [ in ideal non mineralised soils ]

Jeez....I wonder who's Ford Ranger he was throwing it off?
I'd be mighty mad if I saw him doing that on my truck!!!
But it sure looks like it can take the drops.
I used do similar drops with the CTX and broke a few but it's a much heavier detector.

Here's something I wrote back in 2000 that might help a tad Deadlift?

PLOUGHED FIELD, in conjunction with Musketeer w/ 10" TS coil.
Standard side by side comparison on signals received on first the Relic Hawk, then the Musketeer.

Ghound,
It's the same old story - we, as detectorists are always seeking 'the perfect machine'. (the Silver Bullet if you will? If you want that drink "Coors Light")
It hasn't been invented yet and probably never will? I don't believe the "Impact" will solve everyone's demands / requirements / expectations: it will be 'just another detect

Dan,
I would have thought the opposite as you - CZ's in junky areas the Minelab Explorer in cleaner areas.
My older CZ-6a was pretty god in trash!

"Phew! A great read Monte. Well said"
I used show my Customers the same 'trick' as you described using a length of wire. Straight, U shaped and a perfect circle which always generated a Positive signal with Positive ID's
In other orientations the responses were usually negative"

I'm done with Tesoro for now.
'Junk & Disorderly' is right on the money ( pardon pun ) about the UK version of the New Vaquero RSD - Laser Trident 2
It's very good and I did a very good test with one last year.
I have one regret and that us I didn't use the small coil as I had been offered one just as I was finishing up

This Q is like asking "How long is a piece of string?"
In truth, silver is a great conductor and ALL detectors will react to it strongly.
What you 'should be' asking is: "Which detector/s are the best un-masker's?" (to get thru the trash to locate silver below)

"Give it a bit more time. There's plenty of Tips & Tricks on this site to help to understand it. You are right though - a lot of iron sounds can be heard but the recovery is so quick the non-ferrous signals can be 'un masked' also. But the trick with the R2 is [ how to interpret the sounds ]
Here's a quote from one of my Field Tests that may help?

"I was evacuated off Longboat Key, Gulf Coast 3 times.
It's miserable during and after hurricanes and the police don't allow you back for days as they set up road blocks.
If they do allow you back you have to prove you're 'local'. We had green stickers on our front bumper but you also had to show your driving licence photo ID with address etc.
I also suffered t
