Some of the locations searched aren't 'high rise control box' friendly.
In other Threads, I've often mentioned a dislike for high rise iPhone type control boxes.

Must be a fantastic experience! Even the term, "Ghost Town" gets me going...nice finds...well saved!
(Pardon for asking but Re: wind noise: are you recording on a camcorder, camera or phone?) If a camera / camcorder you might still be able to find / buy a 'gust buster' windjammer that goes across 'integral microphones' and fastens to the camera body by eleasicated

No one replied so I' may as well break the bad news to you...it'd be crap. Don't even think about it. And that would refer to both 'modern' and 'old' sites - just can't handle the iron and the AUDIO would drive you bonkers!

"? Sounds like ?" the front panel has gone on the 'fritz?'
There are two opposing 'buttons' connectors underneath the raised button areas - contact has broken?
Or, the internal 'plastic dark orange color' plastic ribbon that connects to the board has failed?
You might need to find a new front panel complete with plastic ribbon connector?

...Like others here, I too had a 'CZ-20' and liked a few aspects of it compared directly to an 'Excalibur'
* It got copper euro coins - Excal didn't
* It was easier to locate coins after retrieving them to the surface as it penetrated the 'halo' quicker than the Excalibur
* It was also able to signal on the green copper corrosion that fell off copper coins

Good to hear it Mike.
When testing 'New Features', it's sometimes difficult to actually [ see / hear ] when [ appreciable operating differences ] can be observed and captured during Field Testing.
I've got reams of video footage and around 98% is benign while the other 2% captured what you observed!

Photo showing CTX's (taken out of new boxes) before they were personally taken into salt water and dunked / bottomed out to see if any 'water ingress' would occur, or if we did indeed have a 100% Waterproof detector?
This was performed by myself and another tech on at least two other occasions.
I don't know if anyone from the company repeated what I had done with the &

DiggaMke, do you mostly hunt beaches?
What I would do is: take a sample of whatever it is you are searching for (mostly) and go onto [ semi wet ] sand (what's called the Transition area - where its not wet but has dried out enough after the tide receded) and dig an exploratory hole - make a slit into the side wall and push the 'target' into the space a few inches in.

Agree...duh! Gave a loan of a 'good cabled' coil to a pal and a year or more later got back a coil with cracked cabling and bits falling off it all over the trunk of the car...but it still works but fo

When you think about it, a Manufacturer will buy in huge lengths of coil cables and they will have a 'spec' and 'tolerances' and that's it really...they won't buy expensive if they can avoid it!

Dew,
We saw a lot of 'Excal's' back with salt damage either from leaking or breaks in the coil / battery cable.
And you don't really have to put the blame on salt water entirely because certain plastics were worse than others and hardened over time.
No. I don't believe there have been any / many improvements to coil cables and their innards because the main focus h

I LUV 'stubble season!'
Easy digging...
Only snag fresh cut stubble can be hard to press coil to soil and can also be "very noisy", as the coil cover scrapes forward progress!
But, with the first new detecting since crops were sown brings new items to within easy detection depth and the growing season also creates a nice 'halo effect', to enable finds!

No, I'm a professional tester and seasoned veteran detectorist - detecting is my hobby - so YES, I will be buying one. I've always been a "hobbyist" and was lucky to get paid to detect!
Both categories fall under the one umbrella. So I am interested to see what can be bought for $254 and how it will perform. I'll pit it agains the likes of other
