It was actually on the older Quattro but Andy Sabisch highlighted it on the "Safari" handbook. He was the first to coin a name for it.
Basically, Quattro/Safari can be operated in Conductive Sounds (C) and Ferrous Sounds (F)

Good read Mike.
So, was the GS2, the "first" detector to have "Tone Break"?
Was it deliberate or accidental?
Compare it to the 'Cross Save' on the 'Safari: they didn't intend it: it was accidental.

Heck, during my daily tests on New Products, with Minelab I was even testing the 'PH' content of the soils and was reporting all that extra info back to the powers!!!

If it doesn't have a usable Threshold control, I don't think you can do what you would like to?
True, you could "trick" it into a "false" positive but I don't believe you could trick it into a false negative?
I had a look at the controls on this machine and didn't see a Threshold? There 'might be' an audible drop out as you bob the coil up a

Been a while since I owned and used a 'Gold Sabre', had the first of them and liked the 'Notch' feature as back in the day (mid '80's) it was 'the sliced bread' feature!
It did find me an above average rate of 'nickels' compared to other regular discriminators used at the same time. Set up "carefully" that was possible to achieve while

Good interesting report Sven. Well done.
There seems to be a bit of a resurgence and fresh interest in older detectors! Must have a wee bit to do with the recent demise of "Tesoro" (seemed to make some go weepy for older tech?)
The 77b was a 'Legend' and I've been on the lookout for one for a long time.
Of late, a pal from Pittsburgh has bought and used an old &

Hi all,
Am having a "Duh" moment - was driving to a site today and flashed back to the olden days of early detecting and couldn't remember which (a) brand (b) model, featured 'onboard recharging' and/or 'rechargeable batteries' that didn't have to be removed for charging?
Thinking "Teknetics" - the 9000 model? Or, was it the "Fisher 12

Nice finds Steve!
Never knew you from Western Pa, whereabouts? Butler?
As I saw a 'Butler' plate in the finds!
Love the dog thingie.
I used live right off Rt. 8 Gibsonia and had permissions in some old farms up in Saxonburg, Meadville, Franklin and Johnstown.
Was also a founding member of The Pittsburgh Pastfinders. (North Hills)

If you do suffer from EMI on a regular basis chances are it will be at 'its worst' from around 12 midday to 6, or 7pm when most forms of 'transmissions responsible' are slowly wound down.
As the day gets on with its business and more machines / trains / engines are 'on', it will be at its worst. Best times w/o EMI would be 7am and 7pm when most folks are 'shut

...heard it a long time ago from a very well known in-the-know detectorist that the 7" concentric for the "Kruzer" is streets ahead for separation compared to the Nox standard 11" and can almost match it for depth!

"X-Terra" terrific ID'ing bottle tops and the "Equinox" is a derivative of that so that's why I can't understand why the Nox is so poor at ID'ing BT's.

Here's some of what I found and wrote about in a Review of the Equinox 600 on this forum last year:
Part 3
Recognising iron
As alluded to above the Equinox isn’t totally accurate about discovering the ferrous nature of ferrous targets. Having said that, it is adept on short or no grass farm fields where it does ‘null and blip’ on a lot of old nails and other smaller than finger si

They do appear 'short' though? 53cms...is there a longer version?

(not my image) But shows what I use - a long version of the ons shown - has several zipped areas where things can get stored.
Have often carried 2 + machines and all that goes with them, spade, probes, gloves, batteries, camcorder, camera, water, thermos etc etc.
BUT...it can get really HEAVY fast!!!

Am actually quite excited by this New machine!
The ALT Disc seems like it might be [ a 2nd DISC circuit ] to Disc out bigger items e.g. cans acc to the blurb.
I'm thinking a X between some of the more expensive "Tesoro" models and "Troy X5" and a few others incl. their own models which lead up to the development of the "Vista X"
I'm guessing an MSR

Looks like a cool 'drop-in' battery pack AND the headphone socket is also easily accessible and in a good place for a L angled jackplug...
All Looks good. I've been outnabout with an all-tone Sov and not missing a meter...so willing to give this a go"
