None anymore.
After buying several detectors because they hit 10” dimes on YouTube, in supposed bad ground, I finally figured out I just have to
do my own testing to see what works here. (Pacific Northwest) Most all the big brand detectors fall on their face in my ground after 6”.
No matter how deep they are on the east side of the country..

Unless money is really tight I would recommend the 800.
The additional adjustments, especially the Recovery Speed is a big deal to me.
Just one point change on the 800 Recovery Speed is noticeable and does affect depth and separation..
I’m an old coins park hunter though. No experience with saltwater beach hunting.
The wireless package with the 800 is fantastic too.
Just seems like an e

So we still have not passed VLF for depth on coins with this unit?
Just better ID and holding depth in mineralized ground?
I’m not a beach hunter but I would buy any unit that could go deeper then current VLF Detectors
In mineralized ground. The Equinox 800 with big coil is the deepest I have found so far in my area.

I don’t know that there is a “rule of thumb” but Calabash noticed the 15” coil hit much harder when on RS 5.
5 is where I like to run when I can

I haven’t noticed any large difference..
I have not done a side by side test on GB Values but the big coil was running within
the same couple point average that park usually

Good observation on the Recovery Speed Calabash.
5 is my default and adjust up or down from there depending on conditions.
Rarely drop below 5 much anymore. Never below 4 and never above 7
I’m killing it with my big coil on my first two hunts.
Hits hard on the deep stuff.

I went on a second hunt with my new 15” coil.
It has definitely opened up one particular park for me.
The park has been heavily hunted for many years and usually only gives up a few old coins per hunt on average.
The old coin level starts around 7 inches. Everything is real deep with the exception of a few packed areas and around the trees.
After two, roughly 4 hour hunts, I netted 23 o

If your a heavy turf jewelry hunter, it’s hard to argue against owning the V3i.
An Equinox 800 would be all you would need for all your other hunting, including jewelry..
The F75 and AT Pro seem like ancient technology now.
Especially if you have tough ground conditions.

First run with my 15” coil today was a hit! It’s a fantastic coil.
It swings beautifully in a park scenario and sounds off on deep coins with authority..
The 11”stock coil is definitely more deft amongst the heavy trash, but the 15” coil is the tool for
the more open areas with moderate to light trash if the coins tend to run deep. It pinpoints very easy, and is light.
All of today’s 11 o

One more thing Daniel. I don’t know your “buddies” or their skill level, but some people no matter how long they have been hunting,
may never get to next level hunting.
Pulling real deep coins, partially masked or on edge coins takes skill. Some just never get it or even know they don’t get it.
I can see where someone would think the Equinox is nothing special and no different they any other

I’m running the new software Daniel and I really like it for coin hunting.
It seems I’m locking on to partially masked deep coins even better and the depth meter and audio modulation have definitely improved.
I have never had more confidence in a Detector in my 26+ years of detecting.
I’m pulling old coins from areas I had just about completely written off to being hunted out.

I set my 800 up like yours Daniel.. (recovery speed 6) My 15” coil air tests 1/2” more then yours on the nickel, dime, quarter but your 11” coil blows mine away!
12” Dime,14” quarter, and 15” Nickel. Maybe you have a super hot 11” coil which makes your 15 look bad?
My 11” coil does fantastic in my mineralized ground with several 10” Dime and penny finds. More regular deep finds then both m

There are things I’m not thrilled with on the Equinox, mainly to do with the Mode options, but there is no doubt in
my mind the Equinox finds more coins for me then both my CTX and E-Trac did.
The Equinox ID is not as tight as the CTX on high conductors but it makes no difference to me.
Sometimes a deep copper penny will up average into the silver range or vise versa. Your still going to dig

I’m still trying to figure out if this new detector is primarily a beach hunter or is this something
I could use for deep coin hunting in a park scenario?
Does it have decent discrimination and depth modulation.
I have a couple parks where the old coins start at 8 inches but I can’t seem to get past 10” on Dime size coins.
There must be deeper ones I’m missing there.

If the performance increase is anything like the CTX big coil was for me, it will be more harder hitting and better ID at extreme depth
then actual increase in depth.. It’s not like I was really finding deeper coins with the big coil, but finding more coins at depth with the big coil.
That has some value.

I can’t imagine the extra 1” in coil width is going to add much more depth.
The Equinox with the stock 11” coil is already deeper then both my CTX and E-Trac were with big coils.
I’m buying for the coverage but I’ll take any depth advantage it might come with..

If I remember correctly Tom listed roughly 4 Detectors that he uses for different types of hunting and conditions..
It would be interesting to know if the Equinox made it on his roster.

I think Mike Hillis nailed it.. This has been my thought for some time now..
Maybe the best thing to do is ask Tom what Detector he uses when NOT testing for the manufacturers.
I know he has listed them in the past, but that list may be different now..

Did I miss something?
Dr. Tones gives a Hammered Coin signal to his hunting partner, to help him out and he loses your respect?
I see it much different then you I guess..

MHR you talk like I’ve never used the CTX..
The last 4 years, I have used the CTX and E-Trac almost exclusively for all my coin hunting..
I’m a huge Minelab FBS fan. Before Multi-IQ it was hands down the best technology for old coin hunting
in modern trash, in my soil..
I don’t miss the FE/CO like I thought I would.. In retrospect, I didn’t give the FE number much weight when using my F

MHR as to point number 4 in your post above..
For the average detectorist working modern trash, the CTX might be the better choice. It’s a more refined, pleasant hunt in moder trash.
For advanced users, the Equinox will find low, mid, and high conductors the CTX and E-Trac will miss..
The Equinox is deeper even on high conductors and much faster.
I almost exclusively hunt old parks, curb str
