I upgraded to version 5 this afternoon. I have the old, not X35, 11" LF coil. I just went out to my test garden (mild black dirt) where I have a quarter at 13". The test garden is not old but at 14 months it's not brand new either. Before the version update, my deepest program would give a signal on the quarter but no ID. If anything the dirt is now drier than it was then and with

I'm luckier than some, I have a Deus, an EQ800,and a CTX. I am not near salt water or highly mineralized ground. For general hunting and especially high trash areas I use the Deus. For some general hunting, and for what little freshwater hunting I plan to do the Eq800 will add variety (and I don't trust the CTX in water). For those special sites that have promise of rare goodies - the C

Hope you were wearing a coil cover.

We have a digital outside-air-temp thermometer in the house. I caught a glimpse of it a while ago, reading 98d, and just for 1/2 a second I was thinking "possible silver". Hopeless, just hopeless.

No, they will not. According to what I've read, the 24K puts out twi

If you don't remember the smell of wet mittens hanging around a coal stove to dry, you've led a sheltered life. Well, sort of.

I paid $800 for mine. In my moderate black dirt the Deus still beats it for picking coins out of that dirt with trash. Mostly because of a bigger VDI range. But, as we all know, the Deus cost twice as much. If I were to recommend a machine to a fresh new detectorist who planned to hunt a variety of sites, I'd be hard pressed to recommend anything but the Nox.

I can tell a can, but that's after the tone gets my attention. A

Square tabs and small slaw come up 13, same as nickels. I've tried all angles, freqs, headphones or speaker, bobbing coil, lifting coil, and all possible settings, still sounds exactly the same. Exactly. And yes I am noise cancelling as well as using ground balancing and not ground balancing. I know some will say I'm just not hearing the sound difference but......I have even tried elect

Well at this point in my decidedly un-scientific experience (limited to only 24 hours) I can say that if you like to recycle aluminum you will absolutely love the Nox.

I think it's a fairly simple decision. If you're going to have just one detector and hunt a variety of site types then the 800 is most likely the way to go.
Meanwhile, the 600 is one of the cheapest fully capable waterproof detectors out there, and as stated above, probably getting cheaper as 800's become more available.
If you have several detectors the decision is a bit m

Dr. Tones,
Well I went back and carefully reviewed the Detectival video I was talking about and did it several times. This time I did not see what I thought I saw earlier. It was a pretty subtle thing. So.... I owe you (and the others) an apology. Irresponsible of me.
BTW: I own a Deus, a CTX, and an EQ 800.

I've been saying "how did I miss that?" a lot since getting the Nox also. Except the "that" is aluminum. But I have a lot more experimenting to do yet.

Anyone know what detector has a lower (coil) shaft that is exactly the same diameter as the lower shaft of the Equinox 600/800?
Inquiring minds want to know.
