Tom. I vaguely remember you providing a gold "test" coin with a detector a couple of years ago and I think that you suggested that detector folks should have one. I can't remember which coin it was but I believe it was a $1.00 dollar coin. Is there any particular one or year that is better than another? I often find myself in miners camps and old time military areas here in the

Hi Folks. I recently bought a Minelab 4000 from a guy that was a music producer. The machine came with a carry case that I believe is used to transport musical electronics. The case will carry the 4000 with the lower shaft partially closed. It will also carry my Minelab SE with the shaft partially collapsed and the coil folded. The only marking on the case is "On Stage Stands".

Hi Folks. I have not posted in a while but got this article from my club forum and also from Dick Strouds forum. This looks like a real "suprise" legislation and appears to affect metal detectorists. Here in California a lot of small cities are starting to close parks. I'm not well versed in the move to close the parks as I am usually chasing gold nuggets. Hope this post

Hey Chuck. It's very important that you give to police a serial number AND any identifying things like what coil, what head phones, what case, and for sure any identifiying marks, scratches, etc. When someone searches a data base looking for "metal detector" all or any of that information will help the searcher know that the machine was taken in a crime. Just saying "It

Be strong Lawrenzo and keep fighting back. You know you are in all of our prayers. Great finds. Look for some shady parks and places that you can go comfortably during the coming months. I have a few parks within 15 miles that I will go to just to stay out of the sun. They have restrooms for old guys like me; they are safe; and lastly they are not to busy early in the morning and especially

Hey D&P-OR. Hope this is permissable. This link is to an article written by Dave Johnson, a Fisher engineer. He wrote this for users of the new Gold Bug Pro. I don't know the man but he is very well respected by lots of folks. I think he was one of the main folks behind the T-2s and the GB Pros. Hope this helps. Like yourself, I am REALLY tired of Corona, Heinikens, and other scre

Hey Pulltab. Turn the bad news into an opportunity to make it something good. In the upcoming hot summer months hit the local librarys and do a ton of research. Have someone build you a test garden so when you are up to it you can slowly start swinging your new machine without digging. Drive around and check out places. Talk to some of the old folks in your area. Look for chances along the

I have spent the majority of my metal detecting time in the Eastern Sierra mountains and in the Mojave desert usually prospecting. In addition to taking all of the precautions mentioned above, I always hunt with a partner so that we can back each other up. One of the very important things for us is to know exactly which medical facility we will go to should there be an emergency. We know in ad

Same thing here. A monster THANK YOU for this forum. Been at it since 1990. A 66 year old kid. My GB Pro is my first Fisher machine. Can't say enough good things about this forum. Especially like the educated, helpful, contributing, atmosphere here. Appreciate that treads don't just disappear here, and that things are dealt with by the experienced members. In the world of ham radio solar "flare ups" or "sun spots" play a sometimes critical role in radio reception. While I personally have always considered these events to be something that happens above the ground, it is possible that the sun's energy penetrates the ground and affects the targets that we seek. EMI as a result of these "flare ups" is probably also
